Absolutely enjoyed everything about this film! Kat Graham is always perfect at being flirty, fun, and real. Coupled with Kendrick's energy, they bounce off each other so effortlessly. There's charm, there's beautiful cloudy Seattle, and of course did I mention Kendrick Sampson should be the lead in all future romcoms?
This Hallmark movie is definitely better than most of the fair in this genre. The two main characters are adorable and definitely have great chemistry.
Was very mixed on the 2020 Spring Fling Hallmark films, with them ranging between mediocre and pretty good. Of the previous two, 'Just My Type' was enjoyable whereas 'You're Bacon Me Crazy' was rather average. The title for 'Fashionably Yours' was a curious one and when reading the synopsis it seemed like there was a mismatch between title and synopsis. While the 2020 Hallmark in general were very variable, there were some pretty good and more ones.
'Fashionably Yours' for me was not one of those pretty good and more ones. There are certainly far worse Hallmark films from that year, but this was one of the films that left me mixed and being unsure how to rate and review it. 'Fashionably Yours' is far from terrible and is a tolerable effort, with some good if not outstanding things. It is also one of the 2020 Hallmark films that is not particularly good and could have been better. It also could have done more with the setting.
As said, there are certainly good things. Most of the production values are fine, the scenery was often eye catching with Hallmark regardless of any authenticity and it is here. The music didn't feel too constant or overdone, serving its purpose well with nothing offensive if not much distinctive.
Kat Graham is a delight, she radiates cheerful joy and is so charming. She does have some nice playful chemistry with Kendrick Sampson, despite not being as taken with his performance. Did like the light-hearted banter.
However, 'Fashionably Yours' could have been better. Sampson too often comes over as too stiff and his line delivery sounded on the muffled side. The supporting cast are merely competent but nobody stands out or are memorable. There could have been a lot more development to the characters, who are stock stereotypes and not much here (the only one developed that well is Graham's). The editing agreed did seem on the choppy side.
The direction is again competent if undistinguished and merely functional. Other than the banter, the dialogue could have flowed a lot more naturally and there could have been less of it perhaps. The story is pretty weak, the predictability factor is high throughout despite a few differences from the formula and moves at too slow a pace. With it taking a while to get to the point. The final act is on the contrived and too tidy side, not uncommon with Hallmark.
Overall, tolerable if pretty average. 5/10.

I'm sure you've heard every review there is but you're looking now at a young lady that grew up in a very abusive home and my only escape was watching Hallmark as I got older even to be able to see the perfect lives almost that you create of course we know that's not real life but it was certainly refreshing to see something positive in the form of African-Americans because we do have the same feelings as everyone else we still love we still are conscientious we have character we have dignity we weren't we work hard and we love our families and mostly we love God so thank you for this movie brings back the romance and lets people know that there are still plenty of people like I like this out there of every ethnicity that believes in God morals okay well family and above all in romance and love thank you.
Just couldn't get into this at all. Seemed a bit cheesy. I watched the first hour and decided to unfinish it.
