“Here Today,” starring Billy Crystal as a venerable TV comedy writer and Tiffany Haddish as the saintly, rough-around-the-edges street singer who becomes his unlikely pal, is a movie that feels like it could have been made 30 years ago: a friendly, adult-skewing, tart-witted but never nasty, jokes-and-hugs-built-around-a-serious-crisis character study that’s just ’90s enough to be comfortably old-fashioned, like an old pair of tasseled loafers. What’s good about the movie is that Crystal, who co-wrote and directed it, has an inside knowledge of the showbiz comedy world (as he demonstrated in 1992 when he directed and starred in the acerbically accomplished “Mr. Saturday Night”), and the prickly vivacity with which he portrays it roots the movie in something real.

At a time when limited series on Ott seem to be re-shaping audience viewing patterns, a few soaps have still managed to hold sway for over a decade. There is a large section of the TV audience that still get their daily dose of entertainment from the longest running shows on small screen.
Shows such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have clocked in more than 10 years and are still going strong where the TRPs are concerned. This week, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai raked in a Trp of 3.0, while Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 got 2.9. Tarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma secured 2.3.
Saath Nibhana Saathiya producer Rashmi Sharma says that it is challenging to keep a show relevant for so many years.
"It is difficult to sustain but when you have a strong team, good story line and talented actors, it becomes easy.

There seems to be some positive development for the exhibition trade, as some filmmakers are venturing to release their films at the cinema halls. Last year, due to Corona, some of the best release slots were lost. Since then, neither filmmakers nor viewers have come forward to take in a movie at a cinema hall.
Not that any film released since lockdown in cinema halls was withdrawn -- albeit with restrictions -- had what is called face value or promotion. The few films that managed to release were not worth one's while even during normal situation, least of all in Corona time.
Since the cinemas reopened in September last year, films like "Khali Peeli", "Bolo Hau", "Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari", "Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi", "12 'O' Clock", "Madam Chief Minister", "Kaagaz", "Indoo Ki Jawani", "Amma Ki Boli" and a few other such films released in cinema halls. They had...

If you’ve been patiently waiting to see what could very well be the most tone deaf movie of 2020, then you’re in luck, because Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company are releasing the ill-conceived and very poorly timed Songbird this weekend to stake out a claim as the most tasteless spin on the current global health crisis since Corona Zombies arrived at the beginning of the pandemic in March.
Of course, as a filmmaker, Bay has never been known for things like restraint or subtlety. So it makes complete sense that he oversaw a project shot in the middle of our current situation and uses it as the basis for a low budget genre effort.
For those unfamiliar, Songbird is set in 2024, where Covid-19 has mutated into Covid-23 and the pandemic is in its fourth year. Infected people are shoved into concentration camps for the sick, where they either recover or die.

One Oscar nomination isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? Multiple Oscar nominations.
A few filmmakers, performers and artists may hear their names called several times when the Academy announces its nominations March 15. These contenders hail from all categories, including acting, writing and technical pursuits.
For context, no one is in a position to break the record Walt Disney set in 1954, when the mogul nabbed six noms: “The Alaskan Eskimo” (best documentary short), “Ben and Me”, “Bear Country” “The Living Desert” (best documentary feature), “Rugged Bear” and “Toot Whistle Plunk and Boom”. Francis Ford Coppola is next in line with five nominations in 1974 spread between his films “The Conversation” and “The Godfather Part II.”
Here are the three most likely multi-nominees in contention this year.
Terence Blanchard • “Da 5 Bloods” (original score) • “One Night in Miami” (original score)

With depictions of pandemic catastrophes, war, failing empires, the divide between rich and poor, shooting rampages and massive power outages, Germany’s newest TV shows appear to reflect the current apocalyptic zeitgeist.
German broadcasters and streaming services alike are going heavy on suspense, crime, psychological thrillers, action and adventure, often colored by themes of societal disruption and armed conflict.
Showrunner Christian Alvart (“Dogs of Berlin”) was in production with Zdf Enterprise’s new series “Sløborn” well before the Covid-19 pandemic but the storyline was eerily prescient: A community on the North Sea island of Sløborn is slowly devastated when a deadly virus begins killing residents while being largely ignored by most of the population until it’s too late. Alvart says he wanted to make a series about a crisis that occurs because people are too occupied with their daily lives to take the situation seriously.

You can tell we’re approaching October when more scary content starts to appear on major services, with the latest offering, Spanish psychological horror The Paramedic, having a trailer and batch of images released.
When you see news about a movie with any kind of medical or sickness connotation to its title or central concept, it’s difficult to not immediately jump to the assumption that it’s a cynical attempt to exploit current world circumstances, such as the hatefully abysmal Corona Zombies. Thankfully, The Paramedic is nothing like that, instead being an insidious tale of paranoia and control.
After a road accident during a call-out, the titular first responder Ángel is confined to a wheelchair, his bitterness and reliance on his partner Vane leading him to suspect she’s cheating on him, resulting in him first stalking her movements and communications, then keeping her prisoner in their apartment, in...

When I heard the concepts for the show Love in the Time of Corona and film Coastal Elites, I thought I was in for heartwarmingly interconnected stories in the vein of Love Actually. With Love in the Time of Corona, that's exactly what I was getting! With Coastal Elites, it was something else entirely. Yet with both the show and the film, all I could focus on was the backdrop of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Instead of rooting for Love in the Time of Corona's Oscar (Tommy Dorfman) and Elle's (Rainey Qualley) respective romances, I was thinking about how unlucky in love my quarantine swiping had been. Rather than relating to (or laughing along at the satirical take of) Coastal Elites's Mark (Daniel Levy) or Clarissa (Sarah Paulson), it made me feel like I was being pandered to in a way I hadn't asked for. It all felt...

If you were hoping for more Love in the Time of Corona episodes, sorry to let you down, but it looks like this is it. Starring Tommy Dorfman, Leslie Odom Jr., Rainey Qualley, and Nicolette Robinson, the four-episode Freeform series premiered over two nights on Aug. 22 and Aug. 23 and follows the cast's search for love and connection during the coronavirus pandemic. The show - which is now available to stream on Hulu - was released as a limited series, which indicates that the end of the series has already been predetermined.
However, if Freeform does decide to extend the series, à la HBO's Big Little Lies, it would probably be easy for them to do so, given that the cast filmed the show in their very own homes. For those who don't know, Odom Jr. (James) and Robinson (Sade) are actually married in real life, as are Gil Bellows (Paul...

The artist-activist has secretly assembled a powerful and artful look at how the pandemic was handled in China
In the west, governmental response to the coronavirus has been marked by sluggishness, miscommunication and widespread disorder at the highest institutional levels. From the Trump White House to Johnson’s Number 10, citizens have been left in the dark or left to die as official policy and implemented containment programs offer far too little, too late. But in Asia, it would seem that they did everything right. Swift and sweeping action “flattened the curve” and kept one of Earth’s most populous countries to a casualty count under 5,000 – a figure dwarfed by the death toll in the United States.

Location shoots in Los Angeles were pretty much wiped out completely in the second quarter of this year. It has been reported that 98% of all location shoots were completely stopped, due to current events. The entertainment industry has basically been shut down since the middle of March, with movie and TV productions coming to a halt, along with commercials and music videos. Things were starting to look up back in June, but it looks like most major productions will have to wait until August.
There's really no way to tell when things will get back to some form of normalcy as cases across the country continue to spike. Los Angeles is also seeing more and more cases, which means it might be a long time before location productions are able to start up again. This is leading to some hesitation about setting things up in advance. FilmLA President Paul Audley had this to say.

MollywoodThe post appears to be a response to the stand taken by Kerala Films Producer Association asking new films to wait for pending ones to release.Tnm StaffSeventeen hours ago, Lijo Jose Pellissery, esteemed director of Malayalam movies, put a curious post on his Facebook page. "I am going to make a film, who is going to stop me." This, he wrote in Malayalam, in a slightly daring tone. “Njan oru cinema pidikyaan pokuvada aarada thadayan." The post seems to be a response to the stand taken by the Kerala Film Producers Association (Kfpa) that new films should not be shot now since there are many films pending release. When all film production work and screening stopped on March 11 due to the lockdown necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic, several completed films got shelved. The Kfpa wants all of these films – 66 in total – to release first before new films are started.

Even though the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has slowed Hollywood to a virtual standstill, there’s still been a steady stream of announcements, reveals, and rumors making their way to the internet. This series is described as a funny and hopeful look at the search for love, sex and connection amid social distancing. It will follow several interwoven stories with an ensemble of characters who are sheltering in their homes, some of whom are wondering if a hookup with a roommate can ever be casual, while another is kicking herself for deciding to isolate with an ex.
The show will be filmed remotely, using the actors’ real living spaces as the backdrop to for story.

TV actors talk about how they are taking care of their mental health in the current scenario of corona scare?
1)Amrita Prakash- I'm constantly working on my mental health as much as keeping my physical health in check, through this time. I think they're both interdependent. I plan workouts for my mental health as well. I read a lot and also write articles and stubs to create enough stimuli to keep my mind engaged and active. Also, I'm using this time to nurture myself, my family and my home. I cook every day, clean the house, tend to my garden, play games and spend time with my parents.
2)Sanjay Gagnani-?? We humans tend to ignore mental health and only concentrate on physical wellbeing.?Without good mental health, we can't?be physically strong. Good mental?health comes from happiness, so do all the things that keep you happy. While everyone is under self-quarantine,...

Unfortunately, there seems to be no end in sight for the Covid-19 coronavirus, which continues to wreak havoc across the globe. The death toll keeps increasing day by day and most countries are now in some sort of lockdown, with governments encouraging everyone to stay at home and practice social distancing. And as the pandemic gets worse, it’s beginning to impact many businesses in unusual ways.
For instance, Wizards of the Coast, who are responsible for the popular American trading card game Magic: The Gathering, announced this week that they’re removing a card from the upcoming Godzilla-inspired set Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. Why, you ask? Well, because the card in question is titled “Spacegodzilla, Death Corona,” and quite obviously, that name now has a very, very negative connotation.
Explaining the decision to remove it, here’s what Wizards of the Coast said in a recent statement:

Corona could hardly be more timely as director Mostafa Keshvari touts his trapped-in-an-elevator drama as the first Covid-19 movie of the coronavirus era.
"The idea came to me when I was in an elevator reading news about Chinese tourists being attacked, and I thought I'm going to make a movie in an elevator," Keshvari tells The Hollywood Reporter on Monday. The thriller, shot on a soundstage in Vancouver and already edited and ready for sale, uses the coronavirus pandemic, which originated in China, as a symbol to explore fear and racism among trapped apartment tenants.

Now that the apocalypse that is Corona is here, let’s take a brief break from the panic and talk about the father of the animated d*** joke. This is the man who brought “yo mama” into the 21st century with the style and grace of a fart wafting in the wind. I speak of course, of Seth MacFarlane. Lord of the Dark Arts of Phallic Humor, Seth MacFarlane continuously puts out side-splitting humor. He began his journey with the show every teenage boy watches when their parents are out of the house, Family Guy. *People may say shows like Family Guy rot the brain but a lot of socks have gone unsoiled thanks to teenagers being distracted by MacFarlane’s work.* For that, we salute you, Mr. MacFarlane! A true American hero.

People are starting to freak out over the Tangled and coronavirus similarities. Social media has been the way that a lot of people all over the world are spending their time since everybody is supposed to stay indoors. With people spending so much time at home, they have been watching a lot of movies and TV shows to help pass the time and forget about the world for a few hours. As it turns out, Tangled is a movie that a lot of people have been gravitating towards.
In Tangled, Mandy Moore's Rapunzel is abducted by Mother Gothel and confined to an isolated tower in the village of Corona. The main character is basically quarantined, like everybody else across the world, so we can all relate. However, the Corona village aspect is hitting a little too close to home for some Disney fans. "Remember the film Tangled? and how...
