Arte left her well-to-do home prior to the arranged wedding but after the arranged proposal. She doesn't want to be someone's dutiful wife. She wants to be an 🎨artist🖼. Arte takes place in 15th century Florence, at the birth of the Renaissance. Viewers get to know that amazing time and some of the amazing artists that it produced - that's the whole point.
I watched Arte as I was falling in love with anime. All I can say is that it left me rather underwhelmed. It's certainly not the worst, but unless you have a niche interest in the topics it covers, I hardly think it's worth the viewing time, which is close to 3 hours. It's not a life-changing decision either way. There's just so much better programming out there.
I won't even say that Arte is a good role-model. It's a mixed-medium. She's hard-working and earnest, but she actually does things that will give her lifetime injuries. Hopefully, parents can relay that to their kids: Work hard but don't hurt yourself. Sometimes, balance is the hardest thing.
It appears that Michelangelo is a lady's man in this feature. That's a bit of a stretch. The theme is oppression of females and their rights to be painters, and the theme is applicable to other professions, other periods, and other places. Good theme. Average execution.
