    Best episode yet!

This episode breaks new ground in story-telling, even for House. This time the patient is the only doctor at a remote Antarctic research station. On top of the weekly treasure hunt for a diagnosis, this episode has House actually caring enough about a patient to talk to them.

The limited resources of the girl's location, plus the girl's medical training, make it necessary for House to interact with the patient more than usual and he ends up being smitten. Yet there's an on-site rival who goes to great cringe-worthy lengths for the girl they both care about.

Add in Wilson's mystery date and we have the best House episode ever.

    They should have kept Mira

Mira Sorvino played the best female character of the series! They should have brought her back on a recurring basis. Her interactions with House were absolute gold! Who cares about anything else that happened in the episode?

Inaccurate - Winter in both North & South Hemispheres at the same time?

Great story with a huge plot hole... If it's Winter in Princeton (North Hemisphere) means it must be Summer in Antarctica.

If it was Summer in Antarctica - she could have been Evacuated easily. The weather/wind conditions described in the episode give the impression it's Winter in Antarctica - not possible seeing as it's Snowing in the Winter of Princeton...

Now if it was July and she needed Rescuing - it'd have been almost impossible.

Small but simple mistake, granted - but discounts the entire reasoning for the remote diagnosis & dangerous procedures.

Still a high quality episode though - I just couldn't get over the plot hole.

    One with everything

Close to the pinnacle of the House series. The interplay between characters hits the mark dead center. The challenges of diagnosing a patient from a vast distance, having to resort to less than modern techniques, House bringing out his human side with the patient, astounding his colleagues, whilst still retaining his command over them. Kutner displaying his brilliance, and the final reveal of House being outdone for not knowing who Wilson was dating.. this episode has it all.

    Tasty freeze

A researcher (Mira Sorvino) falls deathly ill while working at the South Pole, and House must find a way to save her via laptop communications. House also falls for her -- who wouldn't? -- during their long distance conversations. The solution was kind of silly, as the solutions on this show often are, but the real fun is in watching the interplay between these two hard-headed individuals. There is a moment when Sorvino's lung collapses and she must take drastic action, that will have many people averting their eyes. A skull-drilling bit may have the same effect. There's also a pee-drinking scene, but it's played for laughs, more or less. Lots of fun to be had here, kiddies.

    • Trivia
As House pesters Cameron in the ER to restore cable in Coma Guy's room, she tells House that he will have to survive on broadcast television. His response is "that works for Tuesdays but..." which refers to the show House, M.D. airing on Tuesdays on the Fox broadcasting network.
    • Goofs
House and his team are in the Northern Hemisphere, during winter. Therefore at that time it would be summer in the South Pole which is in the Southern Hemisphere, and not six months into winter-over season of Antarctica which usually runs from February to October.

Dr. James Wilson: [Wilson's going on a lunch date] Are you going to follow me into my car?

Dr. Gregory House: It's got two doors.

Dr. James Wilson: Okay, look, the reason I haven't told you is...
