Oddly, i enjoyed it.
Yes, Tissen isn't Hamilton in any way. Yet, this ex-mma fighter (and ex-math teacher. Well, wow!) somehow proned me to compare his personage with great&awfull T. (Yeah, yeah, cyborg vs terminator. 2 big differences. Not the point.)
Yes, there is bit too many citations. Yet, it was fun trying to guess which move from which movie.
Even Greenwood's perfomance was acceptable.
So, yes, this isn't classic of all times. Yet, this is "company of good friends", "put aside your problems for a time" movie.
(2007) Cyborg Soldier
SCIENCE- FICTION/ ACTION DRAMA
Straight-to-rental cyborg flick co-written and directed by John Stead which is not bad, with some decent acting from once known television actress Tiffani Thiessen of Beverly Hills 90210 since this film showed some things I've never saw before on a cyborg film. Situation is, cyborg escapes from gov't facility whose supposed to be the perfect killing machine. He gets chased by men wearing black clothing, orders to kill, execute and facilitate. They're in turn, turn out to be the real bad guys making the cyborg itself to be sympathetic. As the film progresses then with the help of the cop held hostage played by Thiessen, after the rapport she pursues to finding out his origin. With the few action scenes it did have is nothing in comparison to the unique approach of this "cyborg genre" is more fascinating than anything else the film has to offer! All I can say is that with a bigger budget, this film might've been better despite some of it's plot holes- they're are easily overlooked. Influenced by the likes of "Terminator" and the "RoboCop" films, this one does offer a different spin to it which is why it deserves a pass!

Hand on heart, then I must admit that I had little expectations, if any at all, to "Cyborg Soldier". I mean, everything here just screams low budget and questionable movie, from storyline to the list of cast talents appearing on the cast list.
The story in "Cyborg Soldier" is about a genetically enhanced person, a cyborg of sorts, who escapes the confines of the research facility where he was created and kept captive. In the outside world he has a run in with a local sheriff and teams up with her to avoid capture by the very same people who created him.
Right, nothing new or overly thrilling about the storyline or plot here. And there most certainly is nothing new to be had here, that haven't already been seen in other similar Sci-Fi inspired movies.
And as for the acting, well let's just say that it has Tiffani Thiessen in a leading role, and that needs no further explanation, you know what I am getting to here. And alongside her was actor Rich Franklin, whom I can't claim to be familiar with at all. Aside from Tiffani Thiessen, then the only familiar faces I saw were Bruce Greenwood and Jim Annan.
It didn't take long before I found my attention directed to the mobile phone and not on the actual events on the screen, because the movie just didn't come off as being interesting or captivating in any sense. And scarily enough, then you don't really have to be paying attention to the screen in order to keep up with the events of the story and how the movie turned out. Yeah, it was that generic and predictable.
The effects, although there isn't an abundance of them in the movie, were actually adequate enough, and they served their purpose well enough. However, it just wasn't particularly impressive or memorable, and definitely wasn't spectacular to really catch your attention.
This wasn't a memorable movie in any sense, and that I have seen it, I can check it off the list and I know that I will not be watching it a second time around.

Just by the title I was expecting something dismal. Then researching and finding out it's a Canadian movie (I am Canadian), I began to quiver with fear having seen so many "$400 budget" Canadian movies and so many unbelievable or simply overacting talent in Canadian movies.
I rather enjoyed this movie. For lesser known actors, the calibre of acting wasn't bad at all. The storyline was somewhat interesting and there were some mildly humorous parts (diner scene).
Don't rush out to get this thinking it is the must see movie of the decade, but do watch it. Don't expect greatness and you will probably be pleasantly surprised, as I was.

Ouch.
About 5 minutes in, I felt really soon for Bruce Greenwood, who I think of as an actual movie star. I cannot imagine what dirt they had on him to blackmail him into being in this, well, I will call it a "film".
About 6 minutes in, I realized I felt sorry for Tiffany Thiessen, which honestly I did think was possible. Not just for me but for anyone.
Along about 7.5 minutes in, I specifically looked up stuntman Simon Northwood, who was playing an unnamed Commando, just so I could know the name of the stuntman I was feeling sorry for for being in this film.
Then at about 9 minutes, as the escaped cyborg (?) was being confronted by the genial country cop, all that evaporated. Suddenly I was overwhelming sorry simply for myself for watching this much of this film.
Don't be sorry; learn from my mistake.

- GoofsWhen the El Camino is pushed over the cliff, it is obvious there are no people in the car. Also, as the car turns over (in slow motion) there is no drive shaft - so it couldn't have been driven shortly before being pushed over the cliff.

Matt Larkin: Dispatch to 113, dispatch to 113, you there, Reardon?
Lindsey Reardon: Who wants to know?
Matt Larkin: Don't tell me you don't recognize my sultry tone.
Lindsey Reardon: Are you reading "Cosmo Girl" again? Don't start. I told you not to read that crap. It doesn't work on me.
