Seen this movie today,
without prior knowledge on what it was about or how it was rated.
Milla Jovovich & Sam Worthington being familiar names that I enjoyed the movies of, raised my expectation of this being an quality movie.
The concept sounded interesting on the condition of the earth with city views and landscape shown.
The air we breathe is of an delicate percentage balance after all.
However it immediately got clear to me that the characters don't take their survival seriously. Not even able to communicate properly, considering the deadly environment they're supposed to be living in.
Their dialogues and actions were of absolute stupidity.
When life is at stake, safety is an priority and there's an immediate state of seriousness, and this movie showed a total lack of that with the main characters.
Talking the most nonsensical of topics, and behaving in an carefree way, living luxuriously as if in an penthouse style, doing spa's & beauty treatments, heavy make up and nails done in every scene, wining & dining wasting food, all with laughter & smiles.
It couldn't be more unfitting to the concept of survival situation and post-apocalypse concept of living underground in an bunker as written in description here on IMDB.
Milla & Sam's acting performance seemed on point and class as usual for quality actors.
But their characters actions and the lines they were given... They were spouting out such utter nonsense unfitting to the scene & circumstances, that there was an immediate dislike and aggravation, from me and the one I was watching with.
We still watched it till the end, enduring one idiotic and nonsensical scene after the next, just to see where it ends up.
And it was an cringed-facepalm watch throughout.
I never expected it to be such an bad movie, especially not with such an starring cast.

I had seen the score and I figured this would be an awful movie, but I gave it a shot.
25% of this movie is the alert system going off and borrowing into your skull. They really didn't need to have the alert system go off non stop throughout the movie, but that's what they did.
I mainly watched this cuz of Milla Jovovich, thought it can't be that bad if she's in it, but it was that bad...
I wish I had a Flashlight and some Copper Wires, cuz then I could have made a "Electromagnetic Pulse" generator and used it and saved myself from this abomination basically.
I won't even rate this... It's just bad.

Seemed promising but quickly makes no sense at all....
The character zora seems litteraly stupid, smart enough tobuild machines, incapable to understand that survival comes by being careful. Incredible that living in a post apocalyptic world some one would keep a spoilt brat attitude.
The grandfather takes pointless risks to get a book, and the father takes pointless risks to burry his family member so far away.... Seems like Darwin awards, what did they learn over the past 4 years of survival...
Protect their loved ones stay alive, be suspicious, when you are the only ones to have infinte oxygen... They learnt nothing, aside from the mother who had common sense.
The enemy characters made no sense.

Near future Dystopian world, I have a soft spot for such series and movies so I managed to like parts of this. However this movie sucks. I like Common as an actor, especially when he plays these gritty, troubled characters. I think the story was decent, the dialogue just wasn't that convincing. With a little bit better dialogue I think this movie could've been okay. I was also really annoyed by how she kept saying "freaking" because she didn't wanna cuss. And the computer system voice for security in the building was terrible. Milla Jovovich and Sam Worthington feel like decent actors whose last couple movies have mostly sucked. Although I do like "monster hunter"(it's not great though) for Milla and I'm counting Avatar for Sam. I don't recommend unless you tolerate bad scifi.
I had not heard about this 2024 action thriller titled "Breathe" prior to sitting down to watch it. But I figured that I would give the movie a fair chance, since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, and plus it had Milla Jovovich on the cast list, which counted for something.
I will say that the concept idea behind the script had a lot of potential to it. However, the execution from script to screen left much to be desired. I had great difficulties buying into the movie, especially since it was supposed to be an oxygen-less world, but it just didn't have that feel to it. So writer Doug Simon didn't exactly deliver anything that was worth writing home about.
There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Milla Jovovich, Sam Worthington, Dan Martin, James Saito and Common. I will say that the acting performances in "Breathe" were good.
Visually then "Breathe" wasn't a particularly impressive movie. Sure, it was passable for what it was, but you're not in for anything grand here. And I guess the orange filter that the movie had to it, whenever we looked at outdoors scenes helped to mask brighter colors of green and such that we would otherwise have seen on foliage throughout the course of the movie.
I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as "Breathe", however, I have to admit that director Stefon Bristol didn't impress me with this movie.
My rating of "Breathe" lands on a generous three out of ten stars. The movie just felt like a half-hearted project.
