Excellent, highly compelling, another great documentary by Netflix. I liked the fact that not only did they do a lot of interviews of people related to the case, but also show a lot of video footages taken during the time of the events also.
The series showed just how much of a disgrace to the tradition of the Texas Rangers both Jim Boutwell and Bob Prince were with their incompetence.
Most heartbreaking was a frail, old Joyce Lemons, a mother of one Lucas' supposed victims who was interviewed early in the series but later turned out to have died before the series was aired without knowing who the actual killer/s or her daughter was.
A Must-See documentary for me, absolutely amazing.

This is an intense and compelling series about a so-called serial killer who falsely confessed to multiple murders.
What is so striking about the series is revealing the sheer audacity and dishonestly of the Texas Rangers and all the police departments who due to criminality, laziness, arrogance and stupidity were prepared- and apparently are still prepared- to believe a proven liar and con artist just for the sake of clearing their books of unsolved crimes.
The police 'fed' the confessor details of crimes and murders to enable his 'confessions' to be plausible.
But it is gets even worse as the suggestion is that these police officers and others deliberately 'lost' evidence, etc., and would falsely accuse anyone who tried to expose the truth about the total incompetence of the investigation.
It is shocking to see how the victims, their families and society as a whole are denied justice by the ego and lawlessness of persons in positions of authority.
Well done to the film-makers for a first rate presentation!

I have to admit that Netflix really make some good documentaries . This is another one to add to the list . While I was watching it I was thinking ..."Why did I/we never hear about this before ?" . I suppose the answer is quite simple . The Internet .
Anyway . It was really enjoyable , and raises all sorts of questions about the US judiciary system . On a more serious note . It did leave me feeling a bit sorry for any current family members , or friends of the victims who will now be left wondering if Henry Lucas actually committed their crime ....
This is one interesting and moving doc as it shows doubt and reveals much truth about supposed serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. Lucas who when caught in the mid 80's a drifter and low IQ near toothless one eyed guy started confessing to hundreds of unsolved murders throughout the U.S.. And over eager and stubborn crooked police officials feed Henry the right info to look like many of their cases were solved. The footage is eye opening with documents, travel logs, interviews, witnesses and trial footage that helped shed light on this crazy blown up hoax. As Lee was used as a scapegoat for the criminal justice system, yet investigations, and retractions, and new DNA evidence shined new light on all involved. This should be as a lesson to show this is not what we want from officials, media, and the justice system. As this doc was a great truth revealing and eye opening mission of real justice.
There's more to this story than Henry Lucas confessing to any murder put in front of him. It's also about the power of the good 'ol boy network and how ruthless people can be when they don't get their way. It's a nicely crafted, interesting film. It goes by quick, not a lot of filler or repetition. A worthwhile watch.
