Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022) – Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The Jeepers Creepers franchise began with a bang in 2001, capturing the imaginations and nightmares of horror fans with its introduction of the Creeper, a demonic entity that awakens every 23 years to feast on human flesh. Directed by Victor Salva, the original film stood out for its eerie atmosphere, relentless suspense, and the enigmatic terror of the Creeper, portrayed by Jonathan Breck. It struck a chord with audiences, becoming a sleeper hit and grossing over $59 million worldwide. The sequel in 2003 continued to build on this mythology, focusing on a group of stranded teenagers and further cementing the Creeper as a formidable horror icon despite mixed reviews. However, the third installment in 2017 signaled a steep decline, with a disjointed narrative, lackluster special effects, and a failure to capture the franchise’s original suspense and terror. Despite these ups and downs, the franchise’s enduring legacy and dedicated fanbase prompted a reboot with...

Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017) – Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

Every Jeepers Creepers Movie, Ranked
Image
The Jeepers Creepers franchise has had its ups and downs, with the original 2001 film being the standout and the recent 2022 reboot being the weakest. Jeepers Creepers: Reborn lacks the charisma and suspense of the original, turning the Creeper into a generic slasher villain and offering little originality. Jeepers Creepers 2 is a solid sequel that builds upon the Creeper's role in the franchise, featuring impressive sequences and a satisfying conclusion to the two movies.

There have been four Jeepers Creepers movies throughout the franchise, which vary wildly from brilliant to incredibly poor. The series started with Victor Salva's iconic original in 2001 and has since garnered two sequels and a reboot. While Jeepers Creepers fostered a cult following, the subsequent installments have had less success.

The Jeepers Creepers franchise depicts a monstrous humanoid creature known as the Creeper. The Creeper awakens every 23 years and has 23 days to harvest enough human...

Where To Watch All 4 Jeepers Creepers Movies
Image
The Jeepers Creepers franchise consists of four movies, each available to rent or stream online, featuring a unique monster that preys on humans every 23 years. The sequels and reboot of Jeepers Creepers have had mixed success but can still be viewed on various streaming and video-on-demand platforms. Watching all the Jeepers Creepers movies requires multiple viewing platforms, as no single streaming service offers more than one installment, but there are options to rent or buy digitally or purchase physical copies.

Following the release of the last installment in 2022, there are four movies in the Jeepers Creepers franchise, and each is available to rent or stream online. The Jeepers Creepers movies involve a monster called the Creeper, which stalks citizens of rural Florida every 23 years. The franchise has become a staple of the new-wave horror genre thanks to its creative storytelling and the uniqueness of the first film in the series.

Jeepers Creepers Ending Explained
Image
The ending of Jeepers Creepers reveals the true nature of the monster and its attraction to fear, which saves Trish from its clutches. The Creeper removes Darry's eyes to use as body parts for his own regeneration every 23 years. Trish's brave and selfless actions in the ending prove that she is the true horror heroine of the movie.

While 2001’s Jeepers Creepers was a surprise sleeper hit, the horror movie’s ending doesn’t explain much about its monster. Jeepers Creepers was a 2001 horror movie by director Victor Salva. The movie followed the story of siblings Darry and Trish who were accosted by a creepy, malevolent driver as they road-tripped across the country. When Darry followed their attacker to an abandoned church, he found a slew of corpses there and realized that the other driver was a serial killer. A threatening phone call warned Darry and Trish to steer clear of the driver,...

Jeepers Creepers: Reborn Review: A Disgraceful Reboot
Image
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn faced the colossal challenge of rebooting a somewhat controversial franchise. On the one hand, Reborn had to move away as far as it could from Jeepers Creeper creator Victor Salva, his history of pedophilia, and the uncomfortable sexual undertones of the Creeper. At the same time, Reborn had to please long-term fans of the franchise, who were anxiously waiting for the return to the form of the Creeper after the Jeepers Creepers 3 fiasco. As expected, this paradoxical ethos gets in the way of Reborn being a coherent experience, as it’s nigh impossible to deconstruct a franchise while still being faithful to its core elements. Surprisingly, that’s the least of Jeepers Creepers: Reborn's problems, as the franchise soft-reboot fails so spectacularly that no one will enjoy this dull and dumb movie.

‘Fortress: Sniper’s Eye’ Review
Image
Stars: Natali Yura, Bruce Willis, Jesse Metcalfe, Kelly Greyson, Chad Michael Murray, Gabrielle Haugh, Michael Sirow, Welker White | Written by Randall Emmett, Emile Hirsch, Alan Horsnail | Directed by Josh Sternfeld

Fortress was one of the few recent Bruce Willis films that was actually good, And now the sequel, Fortress: Sniper’s Eye has arrived. But while much of the cast is the same, Josh Sternfeld replaced James Cullen Bressack as director. Bressack also did a good job with Willis’ Survive the Game which begs the question if this film will suffer for not having him on board?

Fortress: Sniper’s Eye picks up in Russia two weeks after the end of the first film. A couple of goons are torturing Sasha and filming it to send to her husband. Or at least they are until Robert walks in and beats the crap out of both of them. Then we...

Horror Prequel Leatherface Unveils Two Terrifying Stills On The Eve Of Release; Plus Watch Eerie Clip
Halloween 2017 may belong to Jigsaw, or so Lionsgate would have you believe, but there’s another big-name horror flick ready to swoop into theaters.

Its name? Leatherface, a prequel movie coming by way of Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo. Initially released via DirecTV late last month, it’s fair to say that their Texas Chainsaw origin story hasn’t fared particularly well with critics – so far, at least – with our own Matt Donato labeling the spinoff a disappointment.

Nevertheless, with only two days standing between now and Leatherface‘s theatrical debut, the folks at Dread Central have conjured up two terrifying, blood-soaked stills in which our hapless cast begin to get acquainted with the demented Sawyer family. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a nerve-racking clip to peruse. However, the question remains: Who will survive and, dare we say it, what will be left of them?...

Jeepers Creepers 3 TV Premiere Locked In For Late October
Contentious horror threequel Jeepers Creepers 3 is coming to TV a lot sooner than you think, thanks to Syfy’s ongoing 31 Days of Halloween event.

Word comes by way of Dread Central, confirming that Victor Salva’s troubled and indeed long-in-development flick will swoop onto television on Saturday, October 28th at 9pm, before Syfy stages an encore showing on Sunday, October 29th at the earlier time of 7pm.

Since Jeepers Creepers 3 was first hatched, Salva’s follow-up has become the cinematic equivalent of a hot potato. Major theaters chains quickly distanced themselves from the project, restricting Jeepers Creepers 3 to one-night-only screenings back in September.

Of course, as I’m sure you’re well aware, Victor Salva’s criminal record is the sole source of controversy, given the filmmaker was convicted for sexual misconduct with a minor more than 10 years ago. His victim, Nathan Forrest Winters, has since issued...

Syfy Plans To Host TV Premiere Of Jeepers Creepers 3 Later This Month
From Jigsaw to Leatherface to Amityville: The Awakening, this Halloween season will soon present horror fans with an embarrassment of riches as theaters across the globe begin hosting all sorts of cinematic ghosts and ghouls.

But if there’s one movie that was quietly shunned by distributors, it’s Jeepers Creepers 3 (for good reason, too, but more on that later). Yes, after years spent languishing on the brink of development, Victor Salva’s threequel faced another uphill battle when many of America’s major theater chains dropped it like a hot potato. Only a small handful of companies stood firm, leading to an exclusive one-night-only screening via Regal Theaters.

Such pent-up demand led to Jeepers Creepers 3 securing a second theatrical showing (October 4th), but other than that, the film’s distribution is about as limited as they come. Leave it to Syfy, then, to step in and secure JC3‘s TV premiere.

‘Jeepers Creepers’, Where’d You Get That Bad Third Movie?
*before going into the review, let’s get the obvious out of the way: we at Age of the Nerd would like to take a moment to say we are fully aware of Victor Salva’s criminal history and the moral dilemma that is presented when discussing or financially supporting his movies.

The horror landscape has changed rather drastically in the sixteen years since controversy magnet Victor Salva first introduced slasher-starved audiences to “the Creeper” (Jonathan Breck) and his taste for body parts in the ‘Jeepers Creepers‘ franchise. Since then, there’s been the rise of the torture porn sub-genre and filmmakers like Eli Roth and Rob Zombie, the supernatural found footage genre, an obnoxious onslaught of inferior remakes (fingers shall be pointed specifically at The Wicker Man, When a Stranger Calls and Black Christmas) and a needed return to form thanks to filmmakers like James Wan, David Sandberg and Jennifer Kent.

Victor Salva in Powder (1995)
Victor Salva Put a Child Molestation Joke in Jeepers Creepers 3
Victor Salva in Powder (1995)
Director Victor Salva, whose new movie Jeepers Creepers 3 debuted this week, was convicted of molesting a child actor in 1988 and now he's joking about it nearly 30 years later. Victor Salva was 30-years old in 1988 when he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for molesting the 12-year old star of his first movie, Clownhouse over the course of 6 years. Victor Salva was arrested on 11 counts of sexual abuse. Additionally, Salva filmed one of the encounters, which was shown in court and was also charged with possessing child pornography. At the help of some Hollywood friends, allegedly including Francis Ford Coppola, Salva only served 15 months of his 3-year sentence.

With such a sordid past, one would think that director Victor Salva would have hopefully learned his lesson, but as it turns out, he hasn't. While no scenes in the movie depict molestation, IGN reports that there is a joke included in...

Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ Director Victor Salva, Convicted Child Molester, Wrote Child Molestation Into New Film
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
A mention of child molestation in “Jeepers Creepers 3” is drawing revulsion because the film’s writer and director, Victor Salva, was convicted of child molestation in 1988. The 59-year-old filmmaker was convicted in the molestation of Nathan Forrest Winters, an actor in his film “Clownhouse,” who was 12 at the time. Salva was also convicted of videotaping the sex act and of possessing commercial videotapes and child porn magazines. He served 15 months out of his three-year sentence. According to IndieWire, the third installment of the “Jeepers Creepers” franchise does not depict any child molestation, but does include a scene in which.

Jeepers Creepers 3 Contains A Molestation Subplot, And Tries To Justify It
I was recently asked to review Jeepers Creeper 3, the long-awaited third entry in the franchise. But, mysteriously for a horror film being released around Halloween, I just couldn’t find a screening. I looked high and low for one, but for some weird reason the studio seemed to be keeping a very tight lid on things. Could the film really be that bad? Were they trying to bury it? Was it simply not finished?

Maybe it’s because the director, Victor Salva, is a convicted pedophile who molested a twelve-year-old boy on the set of his film Clownhouse (*shudder*) and was caught in possession of child porn, which led to him being sentenced to three years in prison (of which he only served 15 months). And now that word has (once again) gotten out about this, screenings of Jeepers Creepers 3 are being threatened with demonstrations and boycotts.

Yeah. It’s probably that.

Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ Director Victor Salva, A Convicted Pedophile, Wrote Molestation Into the Film
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
“Jeepers Creepers 3” hit theaters for one night only on September 26, and certain plot points are rubbing critics the wrong way given the criminal history of writer-director Victor Salva. The 59-year-old was convicted in 1988 of the sexual molestation of Nathan Forrest, the 12-year-old actor and star of his film “Clownhouse.” Salva videotaped the sexual act and was also convicted of possessing commercial videotapes and magazines containing child pornography.

Salva only served 15 months of his three-year sentence, and he somehow went on to have a career in Hollywood in the years that followed. Disney hired him to direct their supernatural drama “Powder,” and Salva found his greatest success with “Jeepers Creepers,” the 2001 horror film that spawned a franchise.

“Jeepers Creepers” is currently on its third installment, and it has been drawing criticism not only because...

Series Veteran Jonathan Breck Reflects On What Makes Jeepers Creepers A Cult Phenomenon
It’s going on 17 years since the original Jeepers Creepers took flight, when film fans were introduced to an all-new and downright terrifying horror icon in the form of The Creeper.

Initially conceived by series creator Victor Salva, The Creeper is a winged demon that feasts on human flesh every 23rd spring, and thanks to the recent launch of Jeepers Creepers 3, there’s another harvest on the cards. But while reflecting on the breakout success of Salva’s 2001 thriller, Creeper actor Jonathan Breck discussed the franchise’s lasting legacy in an exhaustive interview with IGN.

It’s a legacy that has undoubtedly been tainted by Victor Salva’s dubious past, after the contentious filmmaker served 15 months in state prison for sexual misconduct with a minor. And though his victim, Nathan Forrest Winters, has since issued a candid statement regarding the release of Jeepers Creepers 3, the horror threequel continues...

Trailer for Horror Sequel 'Jeepers Creepers III' Directed by Victor Salva
"What happened here, happened before!" Screen Media Films has unveiled a short but effective trailer for the horror sequel Jeepers Creepers III, the newest since Jeepers Creepers II hit theaters way back in 2003. Once again directed by Victor Salva, who made the first two, this one actually takes place between the first and second film. This one is about Sergeant Tubbs assembling a task force hellbent on destroying The Creeper, which is terrorizing a local farming community. The cast includes Brandon Smith, Meg Foster, Gina Philips, Carrie Lazar, Stan Shaw, Joyce Giraud, and Jonathan Breck playing The Creeper. I remember all the rage for the first two, but I'm surprised they've made a sequel now 15 years later. Anyone? Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Victor Salva's Jeepers Creepers III, direct from YouTube: Set between the first and second films, Sgt Davis Tubbs (Brandon Smith) assembles a task force...

Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
Jeepers Creepers 3 Is Coming a Lot Sooner Than Expected
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
14 years after the release of Jeepers Creepers 2, another installment of the franchise is on the way. Director Victor Salva has been working on Jeepers Creepers 3 for quite some time now and the movie is finally ready to make its way to theaters. We haven't had any kind of official announcement or a trailer yet, but the release date for Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral (if that's still the title) has been revealed, and it is surprisingly soon. According to a new report, the horror sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters next month.

AMC Theaters recently posted a listing on their website that says Jeepers Creepers 3 will be released on September 26 and that it will have a running time of 1 hour and 40 minutes. This was later confirmed by Bloody Disgusting, who report that an official announcement is "imminent." That means we should be hearing something official any day now and...

Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
Jeepers Creepers 3 Photos Leak, Story Ties Directly Into Original
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
It has been an awfully long time since Jeepers Creepers 2 came out, and there has been talk of a third installment for years. Jeepers Creepers 3 has already been filmed, so it is definitely coming out. That said, official details have been a bit scarce. Or, at the very least, possibly confusing. But now it looks like we have some solid details about the upcoming installment in the well-liked horror franchise. It turns out, Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral is going to be a direct sequel to the original, which is very different from what we had heard previously.

According to Bloody Disgusting, some unnamed sources have confirmed that this new movie will bridge the gap between the first two Jeepers Creepers movies. Previously, it sounded like Jeepers Creepers 3 was going to be taking place years after the events of the first two movies. That story may still happen, but we'll...

Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ Boycott Announced in Response to Writer/Director’s Sexual Misconduct Conviction
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
“Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral” is tentatively scheduled for release later this year, and a boycott of the upcoming horror film has already been called for. The move has been called for due to the fact that Victor Salva, the film’s writer/director, was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in 1988. Annie Swital has started a change.org petition calling on others to actively oppose the film on the grounds that “monsters belong on the screen, not behind the camera.”

Jeepers Creepers 3 Brings in 80s Scream Queen Adrienne Barbeau
Gina Philips
Just a few days ago, production started on the highly-anticipated horror sequel Jeepers Creepers 3, which was previously known as Cathedral. The actually title has yet to be confirmed. There had been rumors that Gina Phillips, who starred in the first Jeepers Creepers as Trish Jenner, was returning, and that Ray Wise will reprise his role as Jack Taggert Sr. Today the full cast list has surfaced, confirming Gina Phillips' return, along with the franchise debut of genre legend Adrienne Barbeau.

Cinema Runner got a hold of the cast list, which reveals that Adrienne Barbeau is playing a character named Gaylen Brandon, although no details for her role were given. Gina Phillips is also coming back, along with the previously-confirmed Jonathan Breck as The Creeper himself. But this cast list doesn't include Ray Wise, so he's likely not coming back, unless it's in a surprise cameo.

The cast also includes Stan Shaw as Sheriff Tashtego,...

Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
Jeepers Creepers 3 Begins Production in Baton Rouge
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
The original Jeepers Creepers came out way back in 2001 and helped revive the idea of creature feature horror movies. At the time, there were a lot of teen slashers like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer occupying the box office. Jeepers Creepers 2 followed a couple of years later. Despite the fact that both movies were successful, a third installment never managed to get going. That changes now because Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral has officially started filming.

According to a report from Bloody Disgusting, Jeepers Creepers 3 has officially started production in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Director Victor Salva, who helmed the first two installments, is returning to the director's chair this time around. Jonathan Breck is also expected to reprise his role as the Creeper. Recently, it was reported that Gina Phillips' character Trish, who was one of the main characters in the first Jeepers Creepers alongside...

Jeepers Creepers 3 Tells Trish's Story, More Details Revealed
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
Hollywood is pretty sequel and franchise happy right now, so a lot of long-awaited follow-ups to aging movies are on the way. One of these long-delayed sequels is Jeepers Creepers 3, which has a had a tough road to production but seems to finally be getting some real traction and is reportedly shooting as early as next month. Now, we have a new synopsis for the movie that reveals some story details that tie Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral to the events of the original.

The new synopsis comes courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, who uncovered it via a casting call. As has been reported previously, Gina Phillips will be reprising her role as Trish from the first Jeepers Creepers. Assuming this synopsis is correct, in Jeepers Creepers 3, Trish is now raising a son and will actually be going after the Creeper herself in order to stop the monster for good. Here is the synopsis.

Jeepers Creepers 3 Shoots Next Month with Original Director
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
Back in March 2016, we reported that the long-gestating Jeepers Creepers 3 is finally happening, with original Jeepers Creepers star Gina Philips being eyed to return. Director Victor Salva, who wrote and directed Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers 2, was back to direct with an April 2016 shoot lined up in Vancouver, but that shoot never happened. Today we have word that the sequel is back on track yet again, with the production shifting to Louisiana and filming set to begin next month.

Bloody-Disgusting reports that Victor Salva is returning to write and direct, but it hasn't been confirmed if Gina Phillips is still coming back to reprise her role as Trish from the first Jeepers Creepers. An earlier report in September 2014 revealed that Jonathan Breck will return as The Creeper with Brandon Smith also reprising his role as Sergeant Davis Tubbs from the first movie, but their return has yet to be confirmed.

Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
'Jeepers Creepers 3' director Victor Salva's past just came back to haunt him
Jeepers Creepers : Le Chant du diable (2001)
I've broached the subject of Jeepers Creepers 3 and Victor Salva here before, first with an op-ed shortly after the project was announced and most recently during a discussion with filmmaker, author and Dread Central West Coast contributor Staci Layne Wilson once production on the film was rumored to be imminent (you can watch our convo above or below). The crux of the issue involves Salva's 1988 criminal conviction on charges of sexually molesting the 12-year-old star of his 1989 debut feature Clownhouse -- for which he served 15 months of a 3 year sentence -- and his continued Hollywood career in spite of that horrendous act. (Salva has directed eight feature films since Clownhouse, including the first two installments of the Jeepers Creepers series.) While Salva has not re-offended, he is still rightly viewed with suspicion when it comes to working with underage actors; still others feel he should never be allowed to direct again.
