Summary
Reviewers say 'Ghosts' is an amusing adaptation with a quirky ghost ensemble, offering humor and charm. While some praise the American version's unique take, others miss the original's depth. McIver and Ambudkar's dynamic receives mixed feedback. Despite pacing and stereotype issues, the show is celebrated for its light-hearted comedy and creative plots, making it a fun, though imperfect, genre addition.

Look I really wanted to hate this show even though Rebecca Wisocky is in it an I think she is one of the best sitcom comedic ladies of all time. I dunno I kind of adore her so much. Also part of me wanted to support another Kiwi. I was really ready to hate it cos I love originals and I love the original series of this. But they actually take it and move into something else. I can't remember the name of the Jay character but honestly he plays it so well even I feel his pain and not being able to see the ghosts but also wanted to be a part of the fun .
Ok in summary. Wanted to hate it. Ended up kinda loving it. Its not a waste of time!

This show is about a couple that inherits a haunted estate. The woman has a head injury which leads to her being able to see and communicate with the ghosts. We follow the couple and the ghosts and how they go about their daily "lives". The show is really charming, funny and very warm. Watching it just makes me happy. I love the different characters and their stories and the actors play their parts perfectly. Set in a Downton abbey kind of environment adds to the cosy feeling. This show is so loveable that I forgive the sometimes silly jokes. Every episode is like praline in a chocolate box. Love it!
I have watched the entire British show in the past, and greatly enjoyed it. I thought this would just be a US rehash, and the first couple of episodes looked that way - similar environment, similar characters. I persevered, and it developed differently to the original. Character development of the ghosts is happening differently, and there are even some different characters altogether.
I have only seen the first season so far, so I'm hoping that things continue to grow and improve, and diverge from the original British version. Apparently season 4 is happening, so I look forward to getting that far.
I'm still trying to adjust to the American accents though!

Originally I was all about the BBC version and against how Americanized this version became. Yet, I find that the story lines and fun and games is just like watching lego masters uk/us/aus there are so many story Arcs to be told. I am now a fan of this. It was fun to watch the similarities but seperating it, biggup to the husband for perfect portrayal of not knowing whats going on but knowing whats good.

I don't usually leave reviews, but Ghosts (US) absolutely deserves one. I'm completely in love with it! It's such an easy, feel-good watch-short episodes, great dialogue, and just pure fun. There's no heavy drama or big bad guy, just a charming mix of humor, heart, and hilarious ghost stories that somehow manage to make me smile, laugh, and even tear up at times.
The characters are fantastic, and the way the ghosts' backstories unfold is both clever and funny. It's the kind of show that makes you feel good just by watching it, and I'm totally here for it. I haven't seen the UK version yet, but I plan to-people say it's great! Until then, I'll just keep enjoying this little gem.

- TriviaRose McIver and husband George Byrne announced that they were expecting their first child one month after the third season began filming in December 2023. The show spends the entire third season hiding her baby bump after deciding not to write a baby into the show in the third season.
- GoofsThe wounds that killed some of the characters appear and disappear between episode, in particular Flower's open gash in the back and Nigel's chest wound. Also, the basement ghosts appear in Season 1 with pustules and wounds, more consistent to the appearance of the plague ghosts in the original BBC version, but not with the cholera epidemic that killed them in this one. This is corrected in Season 2.
