Summary
Reviewers say 'Ghosts' is an amusing adaptation with a quirky ghost ensemble, offering humor and charm. While some praise the American version's unique take, others miss the original's depth. McIver and Ambudkar's dynamic receives mixed feedback. Despite pacing and stereotype issues, the show is celebrated for its light-hearted comedy and creative plots, making it a fun, though imperfect, genre addition.

I have to admit that Ghosts ended up being a lot funnier than I expected. It's based off the UK version of the same name. I never saw the original UK version so I can't compare but this version sure is pretty funny. The entire cast is great and all have their time to shine. Everyone will have their personal favorites though and my favorites are Isaac, Thor and Hetty. Again, they're all funny though and have their moments. The only person on the show I don't find funny and kind of a bad actor is Utkarsh Ambudkar who plays Jay. He's definitely the weak link in the show. He has a few funny scenes here and there but I just don't think he's a good actor. The lead is Sam played by Rose McIver. She makes the entire show go. Listen, this isn't one of my favorite comedies I've ever seen but it's definitely worth the watch.
I watched the UK version and liked it..I started watching the US version and didn't think I would like it. At first I didn't give the pilot a very high score. I came back and started it again and fell in love with it...As I got to know all of the ghosts and felt this was a charming series. I laugh at most of the episodes and binged on all of the episodes so far. I found no it's not the British one but It is just as good and I found in a lot of the episodes I liked better. So this Americanized version is very good in it's own right.
Listen I'm neither British nor American, so I'm unbiased here.
I watched this show without even knowing there was a British version which I'm sure must be awesome. But this American version is simply genius!!
Extremely funny, good costumes, clever script, and with very talented actors. I just can't stop watching, it has been a while since I found a show that made me laugh this hard!
P. S. All the other bitter reviewers could be a bit more thoughtful about all the jobs put at risk for their spiteful unfounded comments. You should be reviewing the show based on what you saw, not based on the comparison with another show. Shame on you!

Originally I was all about the BBC version and against how Americanized this version became. Yet, I find that the story lines and fun and games is just like watching lego masters uk/us/aus there are so many story Arcs to be told. I am now a fan of this. It was fun to watch the similarities but seperating it, biggup to the husband for perfect portrayal of not knowing whats going on but knowing whats good.
Samantha inherits a fabulous old mansion house, when she suffers an accident in her new place, she comes round and can see faces from the past, The Ghosts.
Now, to address the elephant in the room, I am crazy about the original, it is a favourite show, and I came to this with a degree of scepticism, however, having raced my way through the series, my opinions are pretty much all favourable.
I was expecting direct reworkings of The British episodes, and one or two have that element, but largely each story is original, and wonderfully done.
Some ghosts are direct replacements, others are very much original, Flower for example, she's pretty unique.
Favourite ghost for me, has to be Thorfinn, and it seems the producers loved him too, he gets his fair share of big storylines, Devan Chandler Long is just wonderful.
You could very easily race through the whole series, it is that watchable, highlights for me included Thor's funeral, Trevor's trousers and Alberta's fan, but trust me it is loaded with gems.
Go in with an open mind, give it a chance, you may just be surprised, I'm not often impressed with remakes, reinterpretations, whatever you call them, but this one works on most levels.
8/10.

- TriviaRose McIver and husband George Byrne announced that they were expecting their first child one month after the third season began filming in December 2023. The show spends the entire third season hiding her baby bump after deciding not to write a baby into the show in the third season.
- GoofsThe wounds that killed some of the characters appear and disappear between episode, in particular Flower's open gash in the back and Nigel's chest wound. Also, the basement ghosts appear in Season 1 with pustules and wounds, more consistent to the appearance of the plague ghosts in the original BBC version, but not with the cholera epidemic that killed them in this one. This is corrected in Season 2.
