Luisa DiMio, who was only 11 (b. 1946, not 1916 under her bio) years old at the time she was chosen to duet with Mario Lanza, singing "Arivaderchi Roma." He promised her he would take her back with him to America for lessons/career....but he passed away unexpectedly before that could happen. One wonders how her singing would have gone had she had the chance to perform with the jazzy Neopolitan voice she was born with, and the graceful ability she had to sing that song with such feeling and passion at such a young age. What a gift Mario Lanza's legacy might have passed on to her, but didn't. So sad, what might have been.
