Streaming services are giving many titles a second life after some of them didn't manage to get the popularity they wanted. This time, it's Halo's turn.

Paramount+ premiered an adaptation of the popular video game in 2022 after a long production. Development for the Halo series began in mid-2013, and it took almost a decade for the series to materialize after several delays. Per Tudum, Halo has become a global hit on Netflix despite its early cancelation on Paramount+.

The latest trailer for Netflix's Devil May Cry anime has Dante saying "I work better with music," before setting the trailer to one of the most iconic '00s metal songs. Papa Roach's "Last Resort" scores the demon-slaying trailer that highlights Devil May Cry's gorgeous-looking action. The anime is set to release on Netflix on April 3, 2026, and will run for 8 episodes in its first season.

In only its first three episodes, ArcaneSeason 2 has already changed the series significantly. The main characters are going down unexpected new paths, far more elements from League of Legends are being introduced, and the animation is even more stylistic and complex than Season 1. However, one of the coolest and most interesting differences about Arcane Season 2 revolves around the character arcs being introduced.

Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Ekko, Mel, Viktor, Jayce, and several others from the first season are joined by a host of amazing characters in Arcane Season 2. Although the main cast of heroes is ultimately responsible for altering the narrative's flow, these new characters also play critical roles in the series. The conclusion of Arcane after Season 2 doesn't mean that fans will never get to see these individuals again, although it does make it extremely unlikely.

Arcane'sfinale left many fans heartbroken, as many of the Netflix series' beloved and complicated characters had been killed off or simply vanished in the aftermath. Known for dissecting human nature, by the series' conclusion, it is hard to say if there were any clear villains. Some characters could be said to be villainous, but at their core, they were motivated by human reasoning that pushed them to do incredibly noble things or acts so violently that they had become an enemy. Yet, when the dust settled, one of the show's most amoral characters walked away the clear victor: Singed. The twisted scientist had been working in the background for years, working alongside those in power to further his mysterious goals.

It's no exaggeration to say that his actions helped trigger many of the major conflicts in the show, even if he was more of a facilitator than an actual instigator.

When we talk about the cool characters in anime, our thoughts usually go toward the two white-haired characters, Gojo Satoru and Kakashi Hatake. This is because back when anime characters had a myriad of emotions and development arcs, it was hard for a character to be cool purely.

When someone says cool, fans just assume that it means ‘different versions of strong,’ but that is not the case. Kakashi had shown that you can be cool and have an admirable character (and have a lot of character development) at the same time.

Why Dante stands out from the other characters

Gojo Satoru is probably the most popular anime character in recent times. With his style, flair, and charm, Gojo captured the hearts of millions of fans across the world. But this may change and Gojo and Kakashi could be replaced by another white-haired character.

Although one could easily dismiss it as just another video game adaptation, Arcanehas now emerged as one of Netflix's most popular animated series and is loved by many. Initially announced at the League of Legends anniversary celebrations in 2019, the first season of the show premiered in November 2021. Arcane was renewed for a second season the same month, with Season 2 taking to screens in November 2024.

Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, Arcane has firmly cemented itself in the history of television with an impressive accomplishment on Rotten Tomatoes. In a feat that only a handful of works have achieved, both season one and two of Arcane have a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience ratings, although not perfect, follow closely. Season 1 of Arcane holds a 94% by viewers, while Season 2 lags slightly behind with 84%. However, from an overall perspective, what Arcane has achieved is nothing less than impressive.

Let’s be honest here, Paramount’s Halo show wasn’t groundbreaking in any sense.

The legend of Hayao Miyazaki is something that nearly everyone who knows anything about the anime business is aware of. I personally am a fan of the Japanese creator and his marvelous works that have escalated his fame by earning him major accolades like the Academy Awards. And among those many marvels, the one that I love the most is Howl’s Moving Castle.

The film holds a special place in my heart because it combines the wonders of technology and the thrill of magic together to make a wonderful story that revolves around war. It is one of the greatest projects by Miyazaki, and the level of fame it has earned is reflected by the fact that other anime series have paid homage to it in their own way.

I recently witnessed this when I was enjoying a similar series that combined technology and magic: Arcane.

The Motion Picture Sound Editors’ 72nd Golden Reel Awards were handed out Sunday night at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Nominated by members of the organization, the Golden Reel Award celebrates the creative endeavors in sound editing across feature films, student films, broadcast, gaming and interactive media.

“We are all practitioners of this invisible art of sound. Sound isn’t seen or touched, and as a result, our craft is often overlooked. But we know sound is both physical and metaphysical, and we love playing between the realms of sound’s physical properties and the emotional impact it can have on an audience,” Mpse President David Barber said at the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of below-the-line recognition. “That’s not to say that people don’t, can’t, or won’t [champion] sound, but if they’re not aware of what we do, how can we expect them to appreciate it?...

For data nerds – it’s our favorite time of the year – the second half of 2024 viewing data has just been released! We’ve got a lot more to come, but what are the most-watched movies and series of the second half of the year? Let’s dive straight in.

What are the key points that Netflix has cited as being the most important for this data drop? Netflix reiterated that Engagement (time spent watching) is the best metric to gauge member satisfaction and that this data drop covers ~99% of all video watch time on Netflix and that no single title accounts for more than 1% of total Netflix viewing.

Squid Game S2 had the most hours viewed (0.7% of total viewing), and their total watch time for this period of July to December 2024 was 94B hours (5% increase YoY). Their most-viewed series was Squid Game S2 (87M views) despite premiering only 6 days before year-end.

On Sunday, the Motion Picture Sound Editors announced the winners of the Mpse Golden Reel Awards, and four of the five Oscar nominees for Best Sound came away victorious: Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, Wicked, and The Wild Robot. We're living in a golden age of video game adaptations. Rather than cheap cash grabs with terrible visuals, video games are getting blockbuster adaptations on both the big and small screen. Not only that, but we've seen plenty of recent video game movies and TV shows earn tremendous praise from both critics and audiences, even earning awards.

Indeed, we are far removed from the so-called video game curse and adaptations flopping so hard they put their studios out of business. GKids has acquired worldwide (excluding China) videogram and digital transactional rights to the second season of the critically acclaimed animated series “Arcane,” created and produced by Riot Games.

The series hit Netflix in three batches last year. Season 2 was the final season of the beloved series. According to the announcement, GKids will release “a full product array,” including a 4K version exclusive to the home entertainment release, in 2025, with further details to be announced.

What could be more enticing than a game of Clue set in the elusive White House? The premise for the latest murder mystery from Netflix is simple: 132 rooms, 157 suspects, one dead body, and one eccentric detective. From producer Shonda Rhimes comes an eight-episode comedic murder mystery series starring Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba along with Marvel favorites Randall Park and Giancarlo Esposito. In preparation for the March 20 release, Netflix has released the trailer for The Residence, and it looks like a good old-fashioned whodunnit.

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Look Back anime film grabbed quite a few eyeballs. It received praise from both Japanese and international audiences, which might have been the boost that Chainsaw Man needed for its upcoming film.

If you loved Arcane as much as I did, you're probably pretty excited for this book; and if you're not, you should be. I've had a chance to read Ambessa: Chosen of the Wolf and consider it a "must-read for fans of Arcane." It's filled with important bits of lore and backstory for the Noxian warlord Ambessa Merdada, her daughter Mel, and the rest of their family. By the end of the book, you have a much clearer picture of who these characters are and how they became estranged by the start of Arcane.

When thinking of animation, anime might be the first thing that comes to mind. Whether it’s a visual or narrative masterpiece, the surge in anime’s popularity has taken the world by storm. It’s all thanks to the efforts of their animators. However, is Japanese anime the only beautiful medium?

While the more classic examples of Western animation may stem from Disney and Pixar films, many more studios do a brilliant job. Even so, it seems their reputation hasn’t been fixed, even though more unique projects have graced our eyes. Samuel Deats, however, reminds us otherwise.

Recently, Western animation has captivated its audience with its unique art style and approaches. It’s hardly realistic to say it’s declining in the 2000s when we have amazing franchises like Netflix’s Castlevania, the Spider-Verse franchise, Arcane, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many more.

Back when Netflix announced that Arcane Season 2 would be the series' last, fans were gutted because it felt like Vi and Jinx's story was only beginning. We had a while to accept that the end was coming, but apparently, everyone forgot to tell series star Ella Purnell (who voiced Jinx) about the show coming to an end. Fallout, the Prime Video show based on the game series of the same name, is in production on its second season with stars Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell to return as the Ghoul and Lucy. After last season revealed that Lucy’s father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) was revealed to be working for Vault-Tec and that the Ghoul's family is alive, the two set off in hot pursuit to a fan favorite location, New Vegas, with some set locations already revealed for the Season 2 setting.

Fallout shows the gritty, wild-west-like post-apocalyptic world where 1950s society meets alternate historyin a mash-up of genres. There are high expectations for the second season of the show, understandable given the popularity of the games, and Goggins' latest progress update on Season 2 assures fans that the show will be matching those expectations.

Like many fans Ella Purnell, the voice actor for Jinx, was surprised to learn that Arcane Season 3 was not moving ahead.

Arcane began in 2021 on Netflix and quickly became a beloved animated series. The series brings to life the stories within Riot Games' League of Legends online multiplayer game.

When Fallout Season 1 premiered on Amazon Prime Video in April 2024, newcomers and veteran fans welcomed the live-action adaptation of the nuclear world with open arms. Created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet and executive produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the eight-episode first season received rave reviews from audiences and critics.

The video game adaptation managed to remain faithful to the source material of the video games both in its thematic elements and in its impressive production design while also not alienating those unfamiliar with the games it's based on. The DreamWorks Animation and Universal release dominated a ceremony that was at one point interrupted by a fire alarm that caused Royce Hall to be evacuated. It won Best Feature and also took awards for direction, FX, character animation, character design, music, production design, voice acting and editorial. But Saturday’s ceremony didn’t go off without a hitch, as a pair of fire alarms went off at the venue, UCLA’s, Royce Hall, including one that interrupted the ceremony.

A fire alarm went off about halfway through the ceremony, causing attendees to evacuate the theater and exit the building before returning to their seats and resuming the show. A second fire alarm went off during the pre-show reception, keeping hundreds of guests waiting on the grounds and unable to enter the event for roughly 45 minutes. “There was a sensor that was tripped and then had to act and get everybody out. Once the fire marshal said it was clear, we could go back in.

The Wild Robot swept its categories at the 2025 Annie Awards, winning a leading nine awards, including best feature.

The DreamWorks Animation title was nominated 10 times, but two of those nods were in the same category.

Also Saturday night, The Wild Robot won the Producers Guild Award for outstanding producer of animated theatrical motion pictures. And Friday night, it won best animated feature at the Critics Choice Awards.

Other features that won multiple awards from the International Animated Film Society Asifa-Hollywood, which presents the prizes recognizing the year’s best in animation, include two-time winners Flow and Orion and the Dark, with the former winning best feature — independent and best writing — feature.

Flow, which won the Golden Globe for best animated motion picture, and The Wild Robot are both nominated for the Oscar for best animated feature, along with Inside Out 2, Memoir of a Snail and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.

In many ways, Hwang Dong-hyuk's Squid Game managed to top itself with its much anticipated second season. As great as the mega-hit first season was, there was a lot of concern about whether the show could build upon the stakes that were set up at the end of the season. The series more than capitalized on what it established and continued to embody the same stylistic energy of its initial run. Furthermore, the series left fans on an even larger cliffhanger than the first season. There was a great build-up to a choice by protagonist Seong and then a constant twist in each episode that effectively built tension toward a great ending.

Fallout Season 2 is already shaping up to be a love letter to New Vegas.

In an exclusive profile with Entertainment Weekly, the showrunners discussed adapting Season 2 from the acclaimed yet controversial video game sequel The Last of Us Part II and what about its story needed to be changed for adaptation purposes. "There's not as much violent action moment to moment. It's more about the drama. I'm not saying there's no action here. It's just, again, different priorities and how you approach it," Druckmann said, feeling this ties into live-action Abby not being as jacked as her game counterpart.

A major update has been revealed for the upcoming feature film based on the video game Just Cause. After previously landing a director, the project has now found its screenwriter.

Per The Wrap, Aaron Rabin has signed on to write the script for the Just Cause movie, which is in the works at Universal Pictures. Previously, it was announced that Angel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) would be at the helm for the project. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch are producing, while other producers include Story Kitchen's Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenon. Dan Jevons is executive producing.
