    Spot on!

Dialogue absolutely spot on, effects spot on, action spot on , drama spot on. It feels like a Game of Thrones episode from season 1,2 or 3. First episode kept me glued to the screen. Hopefully they can keep it up!

    Fire & Blood

The premiere of House Of The Dragon was stunning in cinematography while also keeping the same energy as GOT, overall this show will definitely make amends for the devastating goodbye we gave to Game Of Thrones. I cant wait for this new adventure, as it's only just begun.

    Solid start

    A solid start.

The 1s and 10s in the ratings are baffling, it's neither great nor bad.

Takes a while to get going.

Matt Smith is excellent, potential there for a very memorable character.

I don't really get the complaints about the diversity, this doesn't feel forced the way some modern shows are (yes Sandman, I'm looking at you).

There's someone on here calling the show a masterpiece. After 1 episode.

There's another clown complaining about the sex, when that was one of the main reasons GoT became the phenomenon that it did, and we all know it. No-one wants some watered down poor imitation of the predecessor; if you don't like it go watch Wheel of Time.

This is sadly what HBO are up against, the advice would be to ignore the minority of offended balloons and focus on what made the first 4 season of GoT must watch television.

As a book reader, this was everything i could have ever hoped for and more!

House of the Dragon had a lot to prove, thanks to a lukewarm ending to Game of Thrones, but also the fact that it's based on a book that isnt a traditional story but more of a history book of a fictional royal family. Many (myself included) were worried about things such as dialogue, sub plots, exactly what are they gonna do to fill in the gaps? So many people have a bad taste in their mouths after that botched ending? Well, If this episode is any indication, i can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Episode 1 was everything i could have ever hoped for and more, beautifully written, beautifully acted, tragic, thought provoking, and eye opening. Paddy Considine gives a very nuanced portrayal of King Viserys I. Milly Alcock is fun as the fiery Rhaenyra Targaryen, but i believe the real stand out was Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, im going to have a blast watching him this season. Even the smaller roles carry huge emotional weight, the woman playing Aemma Arryn (forgive me, i dont know the actress' name) gave a touching performance despite limited screentime.

Wildly impressed with this premiere! CGI was everything you've come to expect with game of thrones but even BIGGER. Everything feels like its on a grander scale than before, this is truly the Targaryens in all their glory.

If you had any doubts, i hope this premiere episode will put them to rest, i am so happy to be back in Westeros again!

    Finally

Did have some expectations going in and what a start it was... You get immersed in this amazing experience with some really wonderful acting. Kudos to the directors for creating something amazing #10/10.

The favor that Alicent gives to Daemon is clearly seen on his lance when handed to him after the announcement he is to face Criston Cole. It is then missing when their horses rearing up just after this, but is back again during the joust and can be seen flying up the pole when the two men clash.
    • Quotes

Otto Hightower: No one here can know what Daemon would do were he king, but no one can doubt his ambition. Look at what he did with the gold cloaks. The City Watch is fiercely loyal to him. An army two thousand strong.

King Viserys Targaryen: An army you gave him, Otto. I named Daemon Master of Laws, but you said he was a tyrant. As Master of Coin, you said he was a spendthrift that would beggar the realm. Putting Daemon in command of the City Watch was your solution!

Otto Hightower: A half-measure, Your Grace. The truth is, Daemon should be far away from this court.

King Viserys Targaryen: Daemon is my brother. My blood. And he will have his place at my court.

Grand Maester Mellos: Let him keep his place at court, Your Grace, but if the gods should visit some further tragedy on you, either by design or accident...

King Viserys Targaryen: Design? What are you saying? My brother would murder me, take my crown? Are you? Please. Daemon has ambition, yes, but not for the throne. He lacks the patience for it.

Otto Hightower: The gods have yet to make a man who lacks the patience for absolute power, Your Grace.
