So I'm a huge fan of the original show. However I knew this wouldn't be the original. If you can't get passed that, don't just give 1 star reviews because it's not that. In its own its a decent enough show. The show uses a lot of sarcasm, and I'm a fan of that.
It's got layers, and actually is really smart. Totally aware of itself, and almost cynical at times. Love it. Haters just don't get it.
This show is bad, the acting, most of the characters, the storylines, the humor, the attempt to tactile political issues. All terrible! But strangely enough, it's enjoyable and I can't wait for season 2. It does have a different feel than the original but seeing the original characters integrated with the new generation is awesome! Love AC Slater and I'm glad he is a main cast member and not a reoccurring character. His original dance off scene was awkward and a great nod to all of us 80s- 90s kids obsessed with SBTB. AC still looks great 30 years later...
Corny? Definitely. Cheesy? Absolutely. Funny? Of course. So were all the previous incarnations going back to Good Morning Miss Bliss. 11 Year old me still enjoys the 2020 iteration. (Although not a fan of the new theme)
Granted, I had zero expectations for this show, but I thought the show overall was a fun ride. I watched all ten episodes and it's not going to win any awards or anything but for a reboot of an already cheesy show from the 90's, I feel like this show really accomplishes what it sets out to do. The new kids are charming and the old cast fits their roles perfectly. I'm also a big fan of the transgender representation in the show, it's bold and very progressive for a show that bares the same name as such an iconic show from the 90's. I really think the people on here are being way too hard on a show that really isn't meant to be taken that seriously.
