Originally titled "Scary", Director Jav Rivera changed the title after organizing the film into sections. "The Scare" reflects section titles such as "The Build Out", "The Mistakes", "The Tricks and Treats", etc. The DVD and website have also been titled to match ("The DVD" and "The Website").
