I thought this show would be interesting as we live in the heart of cow and horse country and was hoping it would contain less of the "un"-reality show nonsense common to the genre. Unfortunately, there was more drama than action and the host, seemed totally disinterested in being there. Trace Adkins' performance as a host would cure any insomniac. He would stand there looking bored and talking in such a slow disinterested drawl that you'd think he was being forced to be there. The show had a totally scripted feel to it and some of the horsemanship was truly terrible.
I really enjoyed the show It was awesome to watch a more hardworking show This show is 100 times better than Survival Thank you and hope you are planning fir season 2
I will warn you that the deep drawl of Trace Atkins is going to get old, but the challenges and the contestants won't. This is a reality show where the people, the competitions, and the price is as real as it gets. What is the best way to make sure you are getting truly real cowboys to apply to your show? Make the reward 50 head of cattle instead of just prize money. This is a competition bringing the best cowboys and ranch hands together to rope, ride, race, and do everything else related to the cattle business. This show gets creative with its challenges and every one is as exciting as the last. I couldn't stop watching this show even though I've never stepped foot on a ranch.
As a native Texan who has worked cutting horses and cows I really enjoy the content. However, cowboys are supposed to be honorable men or women. There is way to much hot shoting (back stabbing) to suit me. I want to see honorable folks win. Make sure the competition is about ability, endurance, and character. To many contestants are scheming how to eliminate other competitors rather than on the qualities I mentioned above. I would also do more informational cuts on cow types and disposition. Would also like to see some cuts on horse type, care, and ownership requirements. Cowboying is a beautiful thing, and good people know that, try and keep it that way. Happy Trails.
After watching a couple seasons, I have come to a conclusion that the "ultimate cowboy" needs to be more cowboy, less like ranch rodeos. I have seen countless times really great and TRUE cowboys being sent home over ridiculous conclusions. I find this show completely unfair, left in the hands to judge from people that have never truly cowboyed to pay for your next meal. I would like to see this show live up to its actual name, and promote true cowboys talents and ways of life. It's very disappointing and I personally feel it's discouraging and not promoting the true cowboy way of life. People need to see the honest cowboy way, not the weekend warrior way.
