It honestly did help my kiddo with letter recognition and letter sounds. But it's also an old show, and it unfortunately also hardcore pushes gender stereotypes. The boy is in charge and the girls all wear dresses. When they go into books, Red changes from a short red dress to what looks like a bathing suit for absolutely no reason that I can fathom. Meanwhile, Princess Pea gets even more frilly. Because we wouldn't know they were girls if they didn't wear dresses and play tea party. Someone might get confused.
And the books they go into are usually old fairy tales or nursery rhymes. They obviously have no issue changing the stories, but they never break those gender roles.

I recently had the opportunity to watch Super Why!, a popular children's television show aimed at teaching kids how to read and solve problems. While I appreciate the show's good intentions, I couldn't help but notice some of its shortcomings. For starters, the characters felt a bit one-dimensional and needed more depth. The repetitive plot lines, which follow a predictable formula, could become monotonous. The show's bright and colorful animations are visually appealing and help to hold one's attention. I also enjoyed the catchy songs, which are fun to sing. In my opinion, this show is an excellent choice for young children who are just starting to learn how to read. However, it may be less engaging for older kids or adults looking for a more complex and nuanced viewing experience.
My boys love this show!!! I like it too. It's educational and has a good story line. The opening and closing theme song are very catchy
Okay, don't get me wrong. I loved this show when I was a toddler. But later on in life, I was like, "One of the most stupid shows I ever laid eyes on." Even two of my OC characters, Kailey Evans, and Kasey Anderson, hate the show. Seriously. Princess Pea's cat is stuck in a tree. Girl! Go get the firefighters or get a ladder! Don't go into a frickin book and mess up the story. Because going into fairytales and messing up stories AND not bothering to fix them makes this show a total rip-off of Whatever After. I know Whatever After was later, but I don't care. TOTAL RIP-OFF if I've ever seen one.
My little brother ( nearly 2 ) loves this show so much. I love it he loves it.
As much as it bugged me ( still does ) the way they change certain fairy tales which I love ( did not like Rapunzel ), they did an excellent job with making a show that engages little buddies, and also teaches them new words.
My brother often says words, and little things he sees or hears from it and I am amazed sometimes by it. He then adds "From.. Superwhy!" I am really proud of him.
The Animation is okay in the 3D animated parts, I really like the style now it has grown on me. But I really love all the different art once they are in the books.
The music is cool, even though they reuse it every episode, we still enjoy it; and after a while I was watching it too ( and not just because my bro was... ). I keep asking him who each character is, and it is hilarious. He tells me it almost every time I ask. In the parts with the alphabet letters he points to the right letters and everything.
When watching my little bro just soaks up everything like a little sponge, which is why I would much rather him watching an awesome show which has been helping him widen his vocabulary, and not something like peppa pig... which caused him to say ig instead of pig thanks to her little brother.
Super why is one of his favourite shows.
