Though Ricky Greenwood, newly esconced at Sweetheart Video, has his trusty scripter Maddy Barton on the payroll, this edition of the venerable series suffers mightily from thin, poorly developed stories for its four vignettes.
One gets the distinct impression that the so-called "stories" are just arbitrary and brief place markers there until the good old XXX lesbian sex action can begin. Sort of resembling those folks who sit in the audience at the Academy Awards ceremony when the actual seat holder is busy on stage presenting, etc., only to make way for their return, keeping the house looking full at all times for camera shots.
So the show begins with Silvia Saige voicing over a monologue about her one-night stand with young Kenzie Reeves. She relates how they made a pact to meet exactly one year later if they want to continue their romance. Saccharine piano music plays as we see her waiting, and sure enough, Kenzie arrives at her door but is late. They chat briefly and then it's sex time. So the "Same Time Next Year" play-derived plot gimmick goes nowhere, robbing a promising scene of all panache.
Another scene starring Nikki Peach and Mona Wales as the May-December romantic duo is so underwritten as to be abstract: Nikki arrives at Mona's door, they sit and shyly express their timidity, then hug and -off to the XXX races once again. I was amused in the DVD's BTS to hear Mona appreciated the spareness and lack of detail/specificity in their set-up scene -the opposite of my reaction!
Even more abstract is a segment where Texas Patti and her young lover Aria Lee sunbathe side by side wearing bikinis and shades by the pool, then go inside and have sex -eliminating any back story altogether.
Maddy delivers a real short story in an IR scene where the Black youngster Ashley Aleigh arrives at Reagan Foxx's door to visit her mom. Turns out mom is away overseas, leaving her wife Reagan to greet and entertain Ashley. The kid resents her new sort-of stepmom who she's never met before and they spar verbally until it becomes clear that both of them resent the mom (who bossed both of them around), who Reagan is on the verge of breaking up with. Cue the solidarity hug and Sapphic sex.
