The school was named by the show-runner and screenwriter Danielle Trottier in honor of former nun Marie Labrecque who left the Miséricorde order and got university degrees in social services and took care of unwed mothers in very different settings. Born in 1921 in Lambton, Québec , she died on 9 June 2021 in Saint-Lambert,, Québec.
