"Amore rubato" (2016) is an Italian anthology drama that tackles the painful and urgent issue of gender-based violence through five loosely connected stories. Inspired by real-life events and based on writings by Dacia Maraini, the film brings together women of different ages and backgrounds, all victims of abuse, manipulation, or toxic relationships.

Despite its noble intentions and a strong cast-including Stefania Rocca, Elena Sofia Ricci, and Gabriella Pession-the film often feels more like a public service announcement than a compelling cinematic experience.
