A good flick to laugh and enjoy in a style similar to Damián Szifrón. Even though it's not that intense as you expect, it manages to make you care at least a little bit about the characters. Fernando, in my opinion, it's the most interesting and Peretti's acting brought humanity and charisma to him.
A nice little flick with a pretty clever heist and fun characters. Super cool that it turns out to be a true story

This is one of the few Argentinian movies I've ever watched, so I'm not exactly aware of the overall quality of their output. Anyhow, this film is a surprisingly high quality Hollywood quality film, shot wonderfully with plenty of action camera work that would not feel out of place in a (low-key) summer blockbuster.
This film is a throwback to films I can remember stemming from the 70s & 80s, of a bank heist. It isn't Ocean's 11/12/13 etc but really imagine if your mad but smart left-field uncle decided to concoct a crazy plan with his mates to rob a bank and you get the gist. The film does comedy & crime well together.
This film is based on a true story (but admits to taking some liberties), and that is its strength & weakness. As it's based on fact, it's uncomfortable the way it pans out, as you are meant to be fully empathise with the team, and there is no moral or Robin Hood aspect to any of them despite comments in the movie of the like. I'm sure those who were affected by the bank robbery didn't see the funny side. This is no Dog Day Afternoon (probably the best in the genre).
It's a fine movie, and I loved the actors as much as the comedy which surprisingly translated well across the subtitles. It's a good evening movie, and one you'll enjoy but in some ways still leaves an unwanted taste in the mouth. If you can get past that, then you'll enjoy it even more than I ever will.

"The Heist of the Century" is a Biography - Action movie in which we watch a group of thieves robbing the Banco Río branch in Acassuso in 2006. This is considered the most smart and famous bank heist of Argentina.
I enjoyed this movie because it was based on a real story and it was very interesting. The plot was also interesting and it contained plenty of information regarding the robbery and how it was performed. The direction which was made by Ariel Winograd was good and he succeeded on presenting very well both his main characters and the plot. The interpretations of Diego Peretti who played as Fernando Araujo, Guillermo Francella who played as Luis Mario Vitette Sellanes, Mariano Argento who played as Debauza and Mario Alarcón who played as Fiscal were very good and their combination worked very well. To sum up, I have to say that "The Heist of the Century" is an interesting movie and I strongly recommend everyone to watch it.

Despite I think gloryfing a robber isn't right, the film is actually pretty good. I'm impressed about the director's skills, I know his previous works and this is by far his best film to date.
"La odisea de los giles", which was also about a heist, was released few months ago. That one was good, but I reckon "El robo del siglo" is better, isn't it?

- TriviaIn the real heist, when the special forces team finally stormed the bank, the seven bandits watched it live on TV while counting cash and eating pizza. Or at least they thought it was live. TV stations covered the operation on a 30-minute delay, because they assumed the gang would be watching from inside the bank and didn't want to tip them off that a raid was coming. They figured they would trick the thieves.
- GoofsIn the film, the thieves appear in some scenes touching everything with their bare hands, leaving fingerprints everywhere. A group of professional thieves would always wear gloves to avoid this, as the police could use their fingerprints to identify them.
