Summary
Reviewers say 'Masters of the Universe: Revelation' receives mixed feedback. Fans commend the animation and voice acting, especially for characters like Evil-Lyn and Teela. However, many criticize the series for straying from the original He-Man storyline, focusing less on He-Man. Some view the show as misaligned with classic themes. Kevin Smith's direction and storytelling face significant backlash, deemed disappointing by some. Conversely, others appreciate the series as a bold, refreshing continuation, adding new depth to the universe.
Featured reviews
Contrary to some reviewers beliefs that people who rate this show 5 stars and below have problems with a female main character: I have zero problems with Teela being featured as the main character of this show. Absolutely not. She was always part of the main cast. I think it could have been a refreshing approach. BUT making her that absolutely unlikeable self-centered egocentric person is disrespectful to the original character. And disrespectful to the audience. And makes the show nearly unwatchable. I don't get how anyone can think a strong female character had to be portrayed like this.
I'll give it four stars because the animation and OST is alright but everything else is meh. These aren't the same characters as any previous He-man show and it clearly shows. Everything you read below is correct and I'll just sum it up to say Kevin Smith and anyone else involved with this doesn't understand He-man and had no right to touch it. There was a right way to go about this and that chance is gone now I think. I hope Kevin Smith's career tanks because of this and everyone remembers how he destroyed something he clearly didn't understand just like Rian did with LTJ.
But this show makes it difficult to like the main character Teela due to her close minded attitude in a few situations and towards some characters; i liked the villain character Evil-Lyn better because she seemed more open minded, and her complex journey and development was more interesting.
What the heck did I just watch?
It wasn't He-Man.
This is why you don't let drug addicts write.
Please stop hiring Kevin Smith until he goes to rehab.
Thanks.

I don't know who the target audience for this show is supposed to be, fans of the original (in their +30's by now, I am one of them) or kids? To me, the writing is terrible. The first episode of part 1 was promising, as was the last, but in between it was a complete snore-fest. As for Part 2, it just went downhill and never stopped. Sad for me to say but I hope there will not be a Part 3.
The only positive I can give the show is the great animation, and a solid voice cast performance.
