Based on several events this is a wonderful entertaining Canadian/French movie 'bout hitman Donald Lavoie.
Once in a while i see a movie wich is that good, i have to write about it.
Take it from me, if you liked the true story about Mesrine Public Enemy nr1, you also like this one. It's a very bloody movie only the French can make. There were sometimes scenes wich were shocking. And it works for me. I've seen a lot of these kind of movies (I love true story movies about criminals from the 70's and 80's), and this one is also a very good one. Éric Bruneau plays Donald very good and Benoît Gouin looks almost perfect to be one of the brothers Dubois.
For me, this is a movie you can see twice or multiple times, not in a row but once a year. Why? Because it's a solide French/Canadian criminal policier with a great 'true' story.
It was 'incroyable'.

A well-made Canadian film, better watched with English subtitles, with convincing acting and above-average everything else. It is grim, it is sad and it is more or less "harrowingly" violent with lots of depressing clouds over.
Would have been better if it were made as a 4-5 parts mini-series with more developments, more background and more flashbacks-present time; then, it would have gathered another 1.5-2 ratings points.

After watching the movie i did my researches and it seem not a lot is actually true to the real life events beside the main character and the main antagonist. But they mention it at the start of the movie that a lot is fiction for various reasons like protecting real peoples identities and making a more entertaining movie.
That out of the way, i will review the movie as such, a movie, and not on how accurate it is.
Its been a long while since i last watched a Quebec movie. To be honest i rarely do, because even as a Quebecer myself, i am not really attracted a lot by our movies.
Quebec ain't the most populated place and our movies made in french mostly are aimed at us only and maybe to an extent France, but as we ain't big on their accents, they are likely not big on ours. So our movies never get a big budget and therefore they are either comedies or dramas for the most part. I enjoy comedy but a lot less drama in general. I love movies but i am what you would call a commercial consumer. I prefer en entertaining action movie like a superhero movie or a John Wick over a Scorsese movie for instance.
That said a story on the criminal underworld is something that interest me more than your usual Quebec drama, and as such it was a fine one, altough its really a character driven movie.
Don't expect gun fights, action scenes or stuff like that. If guns are ocasionally used, its never in the vein of an action scene. Everything is base on the characters and the story the movie want to tell and on that front i think it was fine.
Its not a movie i would watch a second time or that i can say was extremely entertaining, but its an interesting story and the acting was fine. I knew what i was gonna watch and it turned out to be just that. At 1h45 minutes it had a decent pacing as well.
For a Quebec movie its a good one but if you are Americans or such watching with subtiles, you will have to understand its like a super indy movie for you.
