Lost in Translation

As someone who enjoyed the Ranczo series, I was keen to check out the Ranczo Wilkowyje movie from 2007. But after watching it, I'm left with mixed feelings, leading to a 4/10 rating for me. The biggest challenge, especially for a non-Polish viewer like me, was grasping the full essence of the movie with English subtitles. It's one thing to follow the plot, but quite another to catch the nuances of humor and cultural references.

Humor, when translated, often loses its original flavor, and that's exactly what happened here. The witty and engaging humor I loved in the series didn't quite make the leap to the movie. It felt different, and not in a good way. The jokes and fun moments that probably work well in Polish didn't have the same impact with subtitles.

In short, while I appreciate the effort to bring Ranczo Wilkowyje to the big screen, it falls short of expectations, especially for viewers who aren't fluent in Polish. The humor, a key element of the series, gets lost in translation, making the movie a less enjoyable experience for me personally.
