    Fine Cast

Setsuko Hara married for love. That lasted about half a year. Now she's trying to pull her life back together. But for a divorced woman, the choices are not as good as they might have been. Fortunately for her, she has two men who love her on first sight: Ryô Ikebe, who was her university professor father's student but now, after war service, just wants to sell vegetables in the market; and Sô Yamamura, a wealthy man just ending ten years of mourning for his dead wife.

It's the sort of romantic comedy we've seen hundreds of time, albeit one that is taken very solemnly by this movie. It's clear to the audience whom Miss Hara wants to wed. However, everyone's insistence on doing the right thing looks likely to foul that up, just like every romcom I've ever seen.

Still, the performances under director Shiro Toyoda are excellent, particularly that of Miss Hara.
