    "Everything is alright!"

Here's an 1960's classic ballad that got rediscovered and introduced to a wider generation in the 1980's thanks to geniality of a big fan of Roy Orbison, the late great David Lynch who used it in his masterpiece "Blue Velvet". And in an era pleasantly dominated by the artistry and magic of music videos, many hit songs from the Big O received tribute clips, as the singer sadly passed away in 1988 (exception made for Traveling Wilburys's "Handle with Care" as he was still alive at the time); and nothing more appropriate than using bits from Lynch's film along with Orbison's archive performance of "In Dreams", even though the video was released three years after the film.

It's a great collage of elements and editing, as the artist sings and clips from the movie are shown in a strange effect that feels like curtains swining around but it's easy to spot Dean Stockwell's iconic image dubbing the song holding a lamp as a mic, then the main cast (Dennis Hopper, Isabella Rosselini, Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern) also appear, and the whole junction of elements gives an affected dream-like appearance to it all. But it's Roy Orbison's magnificent and unmistakable voice that leaves us impressed and feeling a wide variety of emotions, romantic, nostalgic, dreamy. They don't make performers like him anymore. 9/10.
