    Not Everything Is A Bomb

Here's a short story film about what happens when the Atomic Energy Commission starts buying options on land around a small agricultural town out west. At first people are in favor of the this. The increase in business and prosperity are good. But as time goes on, the realization that the primary use of atomic energy in 1955 was in making nuclear weapons causes them to reflect and pass a resolution against it. Then other viewpoints enter the intellectual fray.

The other reviewer of this movie says it is a government-produced one. That's an error. It's a product of the Christophers, a Christian group founded in 1945 to examine issues confronting the world in an ecumenical fashion. It's still active today.

Several well-known performers appear her,e including Paul Kelly, Regis Toomey, and Will Wright.

    needs to explain atomic energy

People are worried as an atomic bomb gets tested. Hopefully, they are far enough away. The Atomic Energy Agency is buying land for an atomic plant expansion. Some are suspicious especially with the confusion over the bomb. The town council unanimously votes against the project. The situation rests on one grandchild with cancer.

This is a half-hour government short on the new atomic energy. It certainly gives voice to the confusion over the bomb and the nuclear energy industry. On the other hand, I don't think this film explains it well enough to alleviate the fears. In essence, it fails to do a fundament need of this film. It needs to explain atomic energy to the general public.
