The preperations for war are here. Thors gets even more fleshed out further cementing him as the best character in writing so far. This episode is more focused than the last which I enjoy. Some more relationships are fleshed out before the point of no return.

Thorfinn is interesting, if predictable as a eight year old. From what I see of the show he will grow up throughout which I am very exicted for.

I believe the first three episodes of Vinland Saga do a pretty good job at setting up its' characters, themes, conflicts and tension. Of course a slow buildup is not everyone's cup of tea, but here it is obvious that this was done intentionally and quite masterfully.

This particular episode is very important, as this is the part where the story closes its' introductory stage and moves on to the first act of the story. I believe it does it in a pretty intriguing and natural way, allowing the viewer to fully prepare themselves for the upcoming conflict. This is a great example at how the writers should gradually develop their stories and character arcs.
