Made for Each Other

I have no idea how this movie has a good rating. Everything required from a comedy to be good is non existent in this movie. The jokes are bad, the story is bad, the acting is bad and its completely unoriginal.

Usually when watching comedies I don't particularly care for originality as long as the film is funny but this film is not. The way each scene connects and pieces together makes the story and script feel like it was written by someone who failed at primary school English and then dropped out.

If you have a slight bit of intelligence you will find this movie extremely boring to watch. Each scene is more boring than the last and although you may chuckle at the lowest possible decibel at one point in the movie, that is about as good as it gets.

Save yourself the time and boredom. Do not watch this movie

With the exception of George Segal, all the actors here were unknown to me. It's clearly a family affair -- there are three Mastersons in the cast, at least two of whom are brothers, while a fourth Masterson is one of the producers, and the leading lady is or was married to one of the brothers. When they all get together at Thanksgiving, let's hope that turkey inspires better jokes.

It's a guy movie, with the usual sources of humour: penises, erections, anal intercourse, homosexuality, vaginas, periods, menopause, old people having sex, young people having sex, plus a quick flash of authentic testicle. In other words, all the terrors visited upon American suburban males, horrors which seemingly can only be kept at bay by poking (whoa!) fingers and fun at penises, erections, etc, etc.

There is an occasional laugh to be had, but there's no sense of when to stop: what might be funny as a one-liner or a simple sight-gag is drained of humour the more attempts are made to squeeze the dregs of a smile out of them.

Everyone is cute, all the leading characters and pretty much all the support is white. It all seems spookily prescient now we know who these characters elected in 2016.

What a beautiful comedy! Me no get how come so few people liked it. I can understand how this couldn't be a big office hit... Its too much for bible belt America but that people here wouldn't give positive reviews? Yes it contains some sexual twists but it manages not to be vulgar as opposed to mainstream "comedies"of Dane Cook which I find tasteless. He uses sex and nudity purely to shock. This film takes on a difficult task of sex parody and does that with superb sense of humor... Enjoyed it immensely, a breath of fresh air in a vulgar obscene movie industry... And yeah, one needs a little sense of humor as well as intelligence to "get it"... Well done cast and crew! A gem...

Look, if you don't get the jokes then you don't have a sense of humor! Every scene has a joke and it's a laugh out loud comedy throughout.

The acting isn't great but it's deliberate and adds immensely to the humor so if your all big on the acting quality then just loosen up for this film.

Why this wasn't a box office hit and didn't make a killing in sales I will never know. If this film had had a larger budget it would have been seen by many as one of the comedies of the past 10 years. In short, if you want a laugh then watch this, it never gets old no matter how many times you watch it.

Am I cheating with my "high" score for this? I doubt it - and I doubt it will make a difference - also no pun intended. Comedy is something that is ... well hard to rate and/or describe/review for others. Because what I may find super funny, someone else may find annoying and boring. So it is a "eye of the beholder" kind of thing.

That said, you have to like weird to like this. And it also does not hold back punches - other movies/comedies do play nice. But this starts off with a dream (not) come true ... and the weird world our main character lives in, where everyone is aware of his personal life ... this is heightened to a degree that is hard to describe.

Yes this is a movie - yes it is made very clear. Yes you may feel like it pictures relationship and the world in a funny light ... well hopefully you do ... and you may also feel it shows off some of your fantasies/dreams but also nightmares ... maybe both at the same time. Are you in love? What would you do for it? Again, this is meant to be light fun .. let it do its work ...
