    On the verge of signing a deal for their first feature film, - 'Henna,' three young filmmakers - Rahul (a director), Faizal (a DOP) and Shalini (a producer), find themselves at a crossroads when they realise that the head of JJ Studios, Ramesh Nair intends to buy them out. When Shalini encourages the boys to take the deal, it leads to a falling out between them. Meanwhile, washed up director Ramakant Shukla finds himself at odds with Ramesh Nair as well, when he realises that JJ Studios is making a sequel to his film 'Atishbaazi'...without him. As the protagonists find themselves in over their heads, they each choose a path that will set them on their journey to achieve their dreams. Shalini accepts a job offer by Ramesh Nair, Faizal quits his job as a DOP for director Shah and Rahul finds himself questioning his drive to make 'Henna.'

    Ramakant, eager to read the script for 'Henna,' attempts to charm his way into Rahul and Faizal's graces by arranging for them to meet with producers and 'mentoring' a clueless Rahul in the art of the hustle. Faizal faces a crisis of confidence when, while shooting a commercial, he realises that shooting porn for Shah has compromised his aesthetics and his lack of experience is glaringly obvious. Meanwhile, at JJ Studios, 'Atishbaazi 2' has lost its director and production has halted. To resolve this, Ramesh Nair meets with Kamini Canteenwala, also known as Dhobi Amma - a powerful deal-maker and money launderer in Bollywood, to request her to him find a new director.

    To make ends meet, Rahul and Faizal take up unconventional jobs. Rahul as an AD on Shah's next big porn film and Faizal as a photographer in a photo studio, where he encounters the vivacious Vibha, who takes a liking to him. Meanwhile, Ramakant desperately tries to convince the boys to hand him their script as he realises that he is running out of time. On the sets of 'Atishbaazi 2', the new director Manoj with his pretentious grandiosity, is only the beginning of Shalini's problems. As she has to face with a 2nd AC who quits, a lead actor, Ishaan who refuses to perform without a hit of cocaine and an innocent young intern Priya, who becomes the object of Ramesh's desire. Faizal is approached by Shalini to join the 'Atishbaazi 2' set as the replacement 2nd AC and work with his idol - DOP Shankar Menon. But taking the job would mean going behind Rahul's back and working for Ramesh Nair.

    While Faizal grows increasingly attached to Vibha, his first week on the sets of 'Atishbaazi 2,' aren't as pleasant as his repeated mistakes make him the target of Shankar Menon's ire. When Priya shows up on set distraught and angry, Shalini discovers that Ramesh has been using her name to lure the young girl to his office. On Shah's porn set, an accident puts the lead actor out of commission and Rahul is recruited to be the "substitute dick." Meanwhile, Ramakant, with no other course of action left, orchestrates a plan to steal the script for 'Henna' from the boys by burgling their apartment. Will Faizal be able to overcome his fears and insecurities in order to impress his idol Shankar? Will Shalini intervene on Priya's behalf? Will Rahul be able to perform in a porn film? Will Ramakant finally get his hands on 'Henna?'

    With all their possessions stolen, the boys are left with nothing. But a sliver of hope presents itself when they learn about the infamous money launderer Dhobi Amma a.k.a Kamini Canteenwala. As they go on a quest to locate Kamini, they are beaten to the punch by Ramakant, who, now in possession of their script, has changed the name to 'Meri Mehendi,' and is passing it off as his own. Meanwhile, on the sets of 'Atishbaazi 2', Ishaan, the lead actor, overdoses on cocaine. Shalini barely manages to control the situation with Faizal's help, but a picture of the fiasco leaks out to the press.

    When Rahul and Faizal successfully convince Kamini that their script 'Henna' was stolen by Ramakant, she agrees to fund the film and allow Rahul to direct it. But with two conditions: He would need to bring on Amitabh Bachchan as the lead and drop Faizal as DOP. Ramakant confronts Kamini when he finds out that he has been blacklisted in the industry on her orders. Meanwhile, at JJ Studios, Priya approaches Shalini with video evidence of Ramesh sexually harassing her. Finally, a bitter and angry Ramakant meets the boys for the last time and reveals to Rahul that Faizal has been working on the sets of 'Atishbaazi 2,' behind his back, causing a split between the boys.

    Rahul's foolhardy attempt to get Amitabh Bachchan's attention has caused him to go viral overnight and his embarrassed and furious father demands that he return home. Meanwhile, Shalini executes a plan to overthrow Ramesh Nair by exposing his deeds to the public. But to do so she has to convince Priya to release the video she recorded. Despite his conflict with Rahul, Faizal returns to offer his support to his friend. Together with Shalini, they decide that the best way to get the attention of a star like Amitabh Bachchan is to use Rahul's newfound infamy to their advantage.

    Rahul and Faizal make a rap video to get the attention of Amitabh Bachchan and invite him to meet them at a cafe. At JJ Studios, Shalini realises that the senior management is no different from Ramesh and considers handing in her resignation. However, she soon discovers that she has become an industry pariah everywhere else for outing Ramesh. Meanwhile, Faizal is offered a job by Shankar Menon to work with him on a feature film in the south. However, this would mean giving up 'Henna' and Vibha and moving away for six months. Rahul however, has rested all his hopes on convincing Amitabh Bachchan to star in 'Henna,' and together with Faizal and Shalini, shows up at the cafe, hoping against odds that the superstar will show up and that his dream might just be realised. With each of them having been through the wringer, the are now at the precipice, with a decision to make that will impact the rest of their lives.
