On January 1, 2024, the earliest versions of Mickey Mouse – seen in the animated shorts Plane Crazy, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, and most famously Steamboat Willie – became public domain… which, of course, means we’re now going to get multiple horror movies that feature characters inspired by Mickey Mouse. Within the first three days of the year, we saw the short film The Vanishing of S.S. Willie, a trailer for the slasher movie Mickey’s Mouse Trap, and an announcement that Terrifier 2 producers Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy and director Steven Lamorte, who previously made the Grinch-inspired horror movie The Mean One, were teaming up for a Steamboat Willie-inspired horror flick that we now know is titled Screamboat. The film had been aiming for a January 2025 release, but Iconic Events Releasing recently announced that they’ll be releasing it on April 2nd. With that date nearly upon us, the final...

David Howard Thornton stars as Steamboat Willie in Screamboat, a twisted version of the black-and-white Mickey Mouse that was introduced in Disney’s animated short in 1928.
How is this possible?! Well, that original animated cartoon entered the public domain here in the United States on January 1, 2024, allowing for films such as this one to exist.
It’s not the first unofficial Mickey horror movie. And it won’t be the last…

Art the Clown has become one of the most unexpected and shocking horror icons of modern cinema in the Terrifierfranchise. However, he was around long before he became the record-breaking masochistic killer audiences have come to love in his three movies, but a gut-wrenching moment involving actress Catherine Corcoran and a hacksaw turned him into one of the most unpredictable villains to have graced screens in years. Now, almost a decade after being murdered in the most brutal and graphic way possible, the actress has reflected on her part in making the unrated killer a worldwide phenomenon.
Corcoran is hosting the first episode of Shout! TV’s Double Take on March 21, which features two movies in honor of Women’s History Month, and ahead of that she spoke to ComingSoon about working on Damien Leonie’s Terrifer and how it became something so much more than it was ever meant to be.

David Howard Thornton, best known for his role as the sadistic Art the Clown in Terrifier and its brutal sequel, is set to terrorise audiences once again—this time as a rampaging rodent in Screamboat, a horror-comedy that transforms a harmless ferry ride into a nightmarish bloodbath. The film is set to hit Vue cinemas on 2nd April before arriving on digital platforms on 28th April and DVD in May, courtesy of Signature Entertainment.
Directed by Steven Lamorte (The Mean One), Screamboat takes the playful charm of classic animated mascots and distorts it into something far more menacing. The film follows a group of late-night commuters in New York who find themselves trapped on a ferry with an unexpected predator—a seemingly mischievous mouse that quickly reveals its far deadlier intentions. As the body count rises, the passengers must band together to survive against the pint-sized terror before their journey...

Clowns are scary. Despite largely being associated with children's entertainment, people have a deep-rooted fear of these painted performers, so, naturally, quite a few horror movies have made good use of that over the years. In recent years, "Terrifier" slasher Art the Clown has become a straight-up horror icon. All of this to say, the scary clown sub-genre is an enduring one. And now "Clown in a Cornfield" instantly makes a case for being one of the best scary clown movies ever.
I had the good fortune of catching the world premiere of this one at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Directed by Eli Craig, known best as the man behind "Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil," this adaptation of Adam Cesare's popular novel of the same name is nothing shy of a horror/comedy delight. It's funny, it's gory, it's well crafted, and it occupies a unique space in the scary clown sub-genre.

As David Howard Thornton continues to gain notoriety for his role as Art the Clown in the popular Terrifier movies, his fans and slasher movie fanatics should book a ticket for Screamboat, a new killer cruise-ride horror movie opening in the U.S. in April 2025. Thornton portrays a murderous version of Mickey Mouse in the subversive slasher movie, building on a new disturbing Disney horror trend after last year's The Mouse Trap.
With obvious nods to Jason Takes Manhattan, a classic slasher on a cruise ship stopping in New York, Screamboat turns a touristy ferry ride into a fiendish and ferocious course through hyperviolent hell. Yet, with Thornton leading the way, Screamboat is the perfect alternative and/or placeholder to keep fans busy until Art the Clown returns for a fourth Terrifier film. All aboard!
'Screamboat's Premise, Explained
Steven Lamorte directed Screamboat from a screenplay he co-wrote with Matthew Garcia-Dunne.

The big winner of Toy Fair 2025 on the horror front may very well be Trick or Treat Studios, who brought some big time surprises to the convention floor this morning.
Upcoming licensed toys from Trick or Treat Studios include Maniac Cop, Hellraiser, Leprechaun, Terrifier 2, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and Army of Darkness!
The most surprising reveal has to be the Maniac Cop action figure, which is headed our way in 2026. This marks the first officially licensed Maniac Cop figure we have ever seen.
Trick or Treat’s Hellraiser wave, meanwhile, will include Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, and Female Cenobite, with unpainted prototypes on display at Toy Fair this weekend.
And yes, we’re even getting a Warwick Davis Leprechaun figure from Trick or Treat Studios, along with a wave of toys based on George A. Romero’s zombie classic Day of the Dead.

Going to see a movie in the theaters can be a fantastic experience, whether one watches alone, they're on a movie date, or they're just hanging out with their friends. While this era of streaming services has perhaps decreased the number of people leaving their homes to see a feature, movie theaters are not yet obsolete. However, popcorn and folding chairs don't always guarantee a cozy experience.
A good movie should make an audiencegoer leave the theater feeling something, whether it's heartbreak from a sad romance movie, joy from a fun comedy, confusion from a bizarre sci-film, an adrenaline rush from action, or terror and dread from a horror flick. Sometimes, it goes beyond emotional experiences, though, with movies occasionally causing physical reactions from viewers. For around a century now, people have left motion picture screenings complaining about vomiting, fainting, having panic attacks, and experiencing other medical emergencies as adverse...

It's been a long time since the world heard from Mick Taylor, the Australian serial killer at the heart of one of the most brutal horror franchises ever made: Wolf Creek. All that is about to change thanks to Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting, though, as the duo are set to revive the series with a new sequel in 2026 titled Wolf Creek: Legacy.
First announced last year, Variety is reporting that the same team behind Terrifier 2 and 3 have acquired the distribution rights to Wolf Creek: Legacy, and will release it to theaters in the fall of 2026. John Jarratt will return to reprise the role of Taylor, and director Greg McLean is taking on a behind-the-scenes role as a producer this time around, with Sean Lahiff running point as director. Good luck trying both side-ism with a franchise famous for cutting women in half.
Since bursting onto the genre scene, Damien Leone’s “Terrifier” series has become the most controversial success story in contemporary horror. To some, it’s a revolutionary triumph of low-budget filmmaking that boomed at the box office. To others, it’s an ultraviolent slasher about a killer clown with a fondness for sexual brutality and, in “Terrifier 3,” dead children.
To those paying attention, it’s both.
Now, an ongoing PR disaster for the filmmaker is dividing American audiences even further. On Monday, Leone posted on social media proclaiming that anyone “regardless of their political affiliations” was welcome in the “Terrifier” community so long as they’re “a decent human being.”
By most accounts, the director’s remarks were a thinly veiled response to the progressive online presence of his star evil clown, David Howard Thornton,...

The "Terrifier" films aren't exactly known for being indirect. Creator Damien Leone has created a saga of unrelenting barbarity, with burgeoning horror icon Art the Clown slashing his way across a handful of short films and three features. Indeed, 2022's "Terrifier 2" proved too brutal for even some seasoned horror fans, with reports of walk-outs helping propel the film to relatively impressive box office success. In 2024, Leone continued his mission to depict the most upsettingly graphic kills possible with "Terrifier 3," itself a film that prompted walkouts simply due to a stomach-churning opening sequence.
This a film series that has seen Art the Clown sever a woman in half from the pelvis up, whip a victim with their own intestines, and absolutely decimate the body of a young girl in a scene that happens to represent Leone's favorite kill and which has become the high watermark for unadulterated gore in the "Terrifier" saga.

According to writer-director Kim Hong-Sun, the production went through 2.5 tons of blood — enough to make Art the Clown blush.
The high-octane gorefest is set aboard a cargo ship transporting dangerous convicts who orchestrate an escape attempt against the heavily armed guards. But the fugitives aren’t the most dangerous thing aboard the ship, as below deck there lurks a superhuman killing machine dubbed Alpha.

The film had been aiming for a January 2025 release, but Iconic Events Releasing recently announced that they’ll be releasing it sometime in April. Earlier this month, we saw the first image...

A new take on the cult horror classic “Audition,” one of the more influential modern horror films in the torture-porn genre, is coming to the screen.
Focus Features is nearing a deal to produce a feature adaptation of “Audition” based on the 1997 horror-thriller novel by Ryū Murakami, which was originally brought to the screen by Japanese master Takashi Miike in 1999 starring Ryo Ishibashi and Eihi Shiina.
Focus will produce the project alongside Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment and Mario Kassar Productions, who have tapped Christian Tafdrup to write and direct the film. Tafdrup is the Danish director behind the original “Speak No Evil,” which was last year adapted into English by Blumhouse and Universal. Tafdrup is co-writing the script with his brother Mads Tafdrup.

In addition to presenting the serial killer's origin on-screen, Leone promises he won’t be letting his foot off the pedal when it comes to displaying the graphic violence the horror series has become synonymous with. Leone broke the news on social media while acknowledging the fandom on his birthday. The filmmaker wrote on X, formerly Twitter:

Director Damien Leone is busy writing Terrifier 4 and has revealed the sequel will delve into Art The Clown’s origin story.
It’s to think of another indie success story on quite the same level of the Terrifier franchise. The films, the first of which was made on a budget of just £35,000, have grossed well over £100m at the global box office. After "Terrifier 2" became a surprise hit in 2022, the saga's murderous mute harlequin Art the Clown returned for more bloody mayhem in 2024's "Terrifier 3," one of the nastiest horror movies ever made. Whether you had the stomach to watch Art's unhinged killing spree unfold in that latest installment or not, you have to give it to franchise creator Damien Leone for managing to top the utter depravity of his previous effort.
The director had set a precedent with the first film in the series, 2016's "Terrifier," wherein he did everything he could to advertise the fact that his splatter-fest was not your typical Hollywood slasher. Heck, Art sawed a woman in half from the pelvic region to the head in that movie. Yet somehow every subsequent entry in the saga has managed to up the violence level, leaving fans to wonder how on earth Leone will outdo the barbarity...

It's a feature, not a bug, that Damien Leone's Terrifier movies have ludicrous stories: After all, a film franchise more beholden to logic probably couldn't get away with imagery like having main series bad guy Art The Clown's severed head get birthed out of the body of one of his former victims,...

If you come to pop culture prominence by playing a blood-thirsty homicidal clown, the Joker comparisons are bound to emerge at some point. For actor David Howard Thornton, the man who has played Art the Clown in Damien Leone's "Terrifier" saga since 2016, that's apparently a welcome development.
Thornton, who landed the role of Art due to some nasty improv during his audition, has seemingly relished every second of portraying the invincible harlequin, turning Art into a burgeoning horror icon following the surprise success of 2022's "Terrifier 2". With 2024's "Terrifier 3" proving to be an even wilder splatter-fest than its predecessor, Art's pop culture standing only increased, and talk of Thornton branching out into other roles has abounded.
When you're as good at portraying a killer clown with a twisted sense of humor as Thornton, the idea of playing the Joker was always going to be part of that discourse.

At the world premiere of the recently released Terrifier 3, franchise writer/director Damien Leone said there will be a Terrifier 4 – and he later said he thinks that will be the last entry in the franchise, because he doesn’t want it to wear out his welcome. (Although he has gone on to admit that Terrifier 5 might be required to properly wrap up the story.) Now, he has taken to social media to declare that he’s determined to find “the sweet spot” in the balance between gore and plot.

It’s either ‘Terrifier has absolutely no plot and is just mindless gore’ or ‘Terrifier has too much plot and not enough gore...

After contributing the ending credits track “Dark Dreams” to Terrifier 2 and working on Screambox’s All My Friends Are Dead, which premiered last summer at Tribeca Film Festival, Slavvy is back with brand new music in Terrifier 3.
The new tracks mark Slavvy’s first release since 2023’s “Pragmatic” EP on Rosso Corsa Records, which featured vocals by Slavvy and production by Slavvy and Sighost.
“Title Credits Theme” and “Killer Theme” (listen) are both works that were made predominantly for film accompaniment, and can serve as a glimpse into the growth of Slavvy’s film-centric compositions over the past few years, hypes the press release.
Slavvy has also elected to donate any profits from the tracks to charities servicing the victims of the California Wildfires.
“This is the only meaningful way I can think to give back,” he explained. “So anything these tracks make will go to people who need it,...
