Witch Watch is one of the latest Shonen Jump manga to get an anime adaptation, the series set to premiere in spring 2025. The manga has always been an underrated part of the Shonen Jump lineup, but with it getting an anime, its great comedy and character writing will finally have a chance to reach a wider audience and give it the recognition it deserves.
Witch Watch's anime will be great to watch in 2025, and now there’s even more reason to be excited about it. Witch Watch was one of many Shueisha properties to be featured at Jump Festa, Shueisha’s annual event for revealing new information about their IPs, and sure enough, Witch Watch released a new trailer at Jump Festa that perfectly showed off the charm of the series. The new trailer gives a lot of hope for the quality of the series, and that’s great to...

Witch Watch receives long-awaited anime adaptation in April 2025 by Bibury Animation Studios & directed by Hiroshi Ikehata. Fans can expect a great adaptation from the teaser trailer, with the anime likely to gain much-deserved attention upon release. The absurdist comedy with romance and drama elements in Witch Watch is set to captivate fans and critics alike in 2025.
Shonen Jump is almost as famous for its comedy manga as it is for its action manga, and one notably underrated comedy series of theirs is Kenta Shinoharas Witch Watch. The absurdist and parody-laden comedy writing combined with genuinely heartfelt romance and slice-of-life drama has always made it fun to read, and thats especially true for fans of Shinoharas previous works Sket Dance and Astra Lost in Space.

The shonen demographic is famous for longer anime series. Many of shonens most iconic titles have multiple seasons, with hundreds of episodes for fans to get through. As a result, these anime last for many years, offering new content that keeps its current fanbase happy but makes starting as a newcomer a daunting task. Luckily, not all shonen series are quite so extensive. In fact, some of the best anime in the demographic are only one season long.
It's no secret that fans always want to see more of their favorite series. However, shorter series can be just as impactful and are often much easier to complete. Single-season anime often have much tighter storytelling with far less filler than most big name shonen series, making them very simple to follow along with. Such series are a perfect choice for those unable to commit to the longer shonen titles.

Anime offers unique space opera adventures comparable to the grandeur of Star Wars. Anime series like Astra Lost in Space, Mobile Suit Gundam, and Space Dandy provide diverse narratives for sci-fi fans. Space Battleship Yamato and Captain Harlock offer compelling modern and classic space pirate adventures similar to Star Wars.
The Star Wars franchise may provide fans with a rich setting full of exciting worlds and battles, but anime is no slouch in the Space Opera genre, either. In fact, many fans have come to love the exotic ships and characters brought to life with pen and paper. For those wanting something new, anime has no end of unique worlds and battles between good and evil.

Classic space opera anime like The Irresponsible Captain Tylor and Legend of the Galactic Heroes offer memorable, complex adventures that captivate viewers. Toward the Terra and Crest of the Stars delve into intricate themes like dystopia and galactic warfare, appealing to fans of political conflicts. Astra Lost in Space and Space Dandy provide modern twists on space opera with compelling character-driven narratives and unique storylines.
Despite not representing one of the medium's most popular genres, the best space opera anime are often regarded by fans as some of the most memorable, complex, and intriguing science fiction titles. Sci-fi stories are always creative and intricate, but the space opera theme takes it up a notch, involving large-scale conflicts and epic, melodramatic adventures, that are sure to keep viewers captivated until the grand finale.

One of the biggest anime and pop culture newspapers in Japan has crowned the most popular manga of the last 15 years, ranking the top five titles while 'shortlisting' 10 others.
Comic Natalie -- a massive Japanese media company on par with the likes of The Mainichi Shimbun and The Asahi Shimbun -- celebrated its 15th anniversary by holding a vote for the most popular manga of the last 15 years. As the prominent site reveals, Comic Natalie has published 120,000 news articles, boasting millions of followers across its social media accounts with tens of millions of monthly page views. The rules for the rankings state that while the manga could have started at any time, it must have ended between July 1, 2008, and the competition deadline of June 30, 2023. Multiple votes for the same work by the same user were not allowed, and manga one-shots were likewise not valid. The full list can be viewed below.

The success of Oshi no Ko and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End has put the spotlight on anime that open with theatrical-length episodes. While uncommon, anime sometimes open with episodes that run for an hour or more, either to end things at a certain point without rushing or to expand on the source material. Those episodes are often a sign of a spectacular production, and their anime are often the best of their seasons.
An anime that opens with a theatrical-length episode is usually one that’s more than worth watching, and here are 10 that stand out as among the best. It should be noted that many of the anime listed here will have their premieres technically run for a little less than an hour, as the extra time will come from either commercials when they aired in Japan or advertisements that may run on certain streaming services. Regardless, each of...

While manga localization has become more expansive, there are still many manga that go years without an official English translation, if they even receive one at all. Manga like these become popular overseas when they receive an anime adaptation or through pirated fan translations. In some cases, these remain the only way for people to engage with certain manga in English for years on end.
There's no good way of knowing when some manga titles will be licensed, if at all. For some, the age or length of the manga are likely to be strong factors in why they haven't been translated, and others might be a low priority compared to other series. Whatever the case, there are some great manga projects out there without official English translations.

Warning! Contains spoilers for Witch Watch Chapter 94!In recent years, Shonen Jump has become infamous for ending series before they get a chance to shine, but one of their currently running series is showing how its canceled manga can return. That manga is Witch Watch, a comedy series by Kenta Shinohara following the misadventures of the young witch Nico and her various supernatural bodyguards. Shinohara is a veteran mangaka, previously having written Astra Lost in Space and Sket Dance. And in the latest chapter of Witch Watch he is bringing one of these older series back.
In chapter 94 one of Nico's bodyguards Kanshi is helping out at a wedding and a funeral at the same time. This leads to the typical sort of wacky antics that make Witch Watch generally a pleasure to read but at the end it is revealed that the wedding was for two minor characters from Sket Dance.

Anime continues to push boundaries not only in animation, but also in terms of what can be accomplished in a television series.
There are now more ways than ever to stream anime. These anime streaming services offer deep libraries that can be overwhelming. There are countless anime landmark shows worth your time, but here’s a list of some of the most impressive new anime series to come out in 2019 and 2020 to help cut through the noise and alleviate those anime streaming woes.
Mob Psycho 100 II
What’s It Like? Bored to Death meets Legion
Where Can I Watch It? Crunchyroll, Funimation (Sub and Dub), Adult Swim (Dub only)
There’s nothing like a good comeback story. Few anime have such incredible turnarounds between seasons as Mob Psycho 100 did. During the show’s first season, the creator’s sister series, One-Punch Man, was the more impressive of the two.
