The next Hunger Games prequel has reportedly found its young Haymitch. Nearly a year after the release of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, fans eagerly anticipate the Sunrise on the Reaping which is slated to hit cinemas in 2026. Now, it appears that the project is already on the lookout for its main cast.

Back in June, The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins announced she would be releasing Haymitch Abernathy's (played by Woody Harrelson in the original film franchise) story in a new novel titled Sunrise on the Reaping by 2025.

Soon enough, Sunrise on the Reaping is already confirmed to get a movie adaptation ahead of its novel debut.

Challengers star Mike Faist and Talk to Me breakout Sophie Wilde have a date with Chopard during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The luxury jeweler has selected the actors to receive the prestigious Trophée Chopard, an award doled out since 2001 at the invitation of the house’s Caroline Scheufele as a way to honor cinema’s rising stars. Faist and Wilde will receive the trophies during a glitzy dinner at Carlton Beach on May 17. As previously announced, godmother Demi Moore will take the stage and present the pair with the honors.

The winners are selected by an academy comprising previous winners as well as those who have served as godmothers and godfathers at the ceremony. Winners have included Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Diane Kruger, Niels Schneider, Florence Pugh, Jessie Buckley, Naomie Ackie and Daryl McCormack.

Faist can currently be seen on screen in Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers opposite Zendaya and Josh O’Connor.

With his new highly-anticipated film Challengers bowing this weekend, Mike Faist looks to have found a new agent and manager as he as signed with WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners for representation. He will continue to work with former agent Samantha Stoller, who transitioned to management in February.

Faist can next be seen in Luca Guadagnino’s tennis drama Challengers alongside Zendaya and Josh O’Connor in theaters April 26, 2024. His breakout role came as Riff in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of West Side Story. His other credits include The Grief of Others, The Atlantic City Story and Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game.

Amazon Prime Video has acquired the North American and Latin American rights to Anthony Nardolillo’s “7th & Union,” starring Mexican actor/comedian Omar Chaparro. Grandave Intl. is handling world sales, and will be presenting the movie to buyers at the virtual European Film Market.

“7th & Union” is the story of an unlikely ally, a broken promise and an improbable chance that inspires two down-and-out men from opposite sides of the track to find a way to use their old passions to pursue their dream of connecting with their family and providing an opportunity for a brighter future.

The movie features Edy Ganem (“Devious Maids”), Gregg Daniel (“Truth Or Dare”) and Erinn Westbrook.

Exclusive: Rebecca Eskreis has signed on to direct ClearMind, a thriller about the dark side of Virtual Reality therapy and the slippery slope of using simulated life to avenge the real.

The film scheduled to enter production in Northern California next spring is the second from Eskreis, whose feature directorial debut, What Breaks the Ice, was recently released in theaters, on demand and on digital platforms via Cinedigm. 30 Miles from Nowhere’s Seana Kofoed penned the screenplay and will produce with River Place Production’s Kristin Tegtmeier Higgins (The Boy’s Gone). Existential malaise is the theme of this quiet drama from newcomer Henry Butash, who cut his teeth in postproduction on two films by Terrence Malick – Song to Song and Knight of Cups. Evidence of this résumé is found all over the camerawork, which floats around its subjects like The Tree of Life, capturing their movements with a serene yet realist quality.

The subjects are Jane (Jessica Hecht) and Arthur (Mike Faist), two lonely souls who meet in a sprawling Atlantic City casino.
