Ok, so before i went into this show i was expecting it to be some. Narcissistic display of arrogance from ellen just to brag about how "nice" she is for the thousanth time, but it turned out the actual show really isnt that bad. At its core its a fairly compitent slice-of-life show about growing up in a large city, its almost nostalgic in a way. Ellens character isnt some gigantic mary sue like i was expecting, but instead she acted like any other 7 year old girl. The art style is cute and colorful (although the animation leaves a bit to be desired) and the humor is pretty sub par for the most part, but overall id say its a solid OK. Its pretty average for the most part, but there is still SOMETHING of substance here, not much but there is something.
Not something i would actually recommend watching, but i would still say it turned out miles better than i was anticipating it to be. As long as you can forget all the horrible things ellen herself did for 11 minutes, this show is probably at least watchable.

Little Ellen is a show that seems to have quite a bit of baggage to it. That's mainly due to how controversial the real life Ellen DeGeneres is. It kind of stinks that her real life legacy is causing people to blindly hate the show since, on its own, it's not that bad. It's not great, but there's a certain charm and wit to it that makes it pretty entertaining. The characters are all fun to watch, and you can tell that the writers and animators and so forth genuinely wanted to make a good show. The show probably would've gotten better reception if it came out a few years earlier or focused on someone else. As it stands, you have a good show that's unfairly hated on. I mean, if you don't like it, that's fine, but have solid reasons for not liking it.
Honestly if this show had nothing to do with Ellen DeGeneres, this show would have been rating 6 stars (7 if I'm being nice).
Don't get me wrong, this show has its problems but it's a fairly decent slice-of life kids show. The art style is good, the characters are likeable and the messages are actually useful.
However, because of Ellen's nasty attitude, it makes sense why this show only had 2 seasons and the other 2 never got released.
Overall, this show isn't bad. It is okay for what it is.
6/10.

Little Ellen isn't a bad cartoon, in fact it's well-animated, has fine writing, and handles life lessons well enough so it's just fine for youngsters, the problem with it is that it is based on Ellen DeGeneres. Once upon a time everyone believed DeGeneres was some great lady who was kind and sweet to all but in recent years it's come to light that she is anything but a virtuous individual and has a history of being mean and nasty to others especially her guests and employees - Judge Joe Brown has quite the story to share about his time guest starring on one of her talk shows, I strongly recommend seeing his interview with Kwame Brown. So a program like this which is about teaching important life lessons feels like an act of desperation on DeGeneres' part to make sure her brand does not collapse entirely and will make it not easy to stomach because no matter the effort a lot will not come across as genuine enough. I can't help but feel bad for the people creating this series, they're doing their best to make a good product but it's subject has ruined their reputation to where consumers will ignore it because of association.
