I haven't watched such an engaging Japanese series since Naked Director. It's light, there's not a boring moment, it's fun, and the story reflects the real issue in Japan. I really like that they keep the episodes short. It's a great choice for a light evening series. One issue is that there could be so much more that the storyline could explore, it's very fast-paced as it is a mini series, it runs through the story too fast. I wish they made more episodes or had a second season.
The series it's based on true facts, of fraud against the elderly in Japan, obviously made more usable with some drama
The beginning of this story is about a young man that after finishing college still lives at home with his parents due to the debts that he has. Then he loses his job and his father gets very sick. The mother starts to worry about the 2 of them but the son tells her he will handle it. His so called friend. Gets him a job which is not on the up and up steals the cash after he crashes the car and now he is in trouble only to be saved by the boss of this gang who sees his potential. He goes from there to do phone scams on the elderly who are well off and proceeds to get more and more money. When he finally decides to quit it is too late. At the end he gets arrested the boss gives his job to his associate and goes legit and the girl changes her statement to get him out of jail but as he is walking towards her a van pulls up with the guy who first recruited him. Once you are in you cannot get out. Moral of the story don't get too greedy . It had a perfect and complete intro and main part of the story but the ending makes it look like they might either have a 2nd season or a sequel which I don't like. The only good thing is that it is 9 episodes and are only 30 minutes each.
This was a fun watch! Not the best Japanese television but the series is pretty engaging and interesting to watch. At no time it gets boring with all the little jokes put every now and then. The story line is based on true facts and doesn't feel overwhelmed.
Most importantly the episodes are not lengthy! Give it a try.
