When I started watching the movie, I did so for Vijay and his charisma. However, the message of socialism and Marxism ideals of the maker of this movie shone through every scene in the movie. The movie lacks in production value and script could be better polished, but as a medium for spreading the message of socialism, it was really good. Only thing is that socialism doesn't come so easy as it did in this movie.. so that might be a little misleading. However, the movie itself didn't disappoint on any front and entertained and educated in good measure. I heartily recommend this movie to all Vijay fans, but even other comrades might watch this movie to enjoy it.

It was not that much bad as reviews... at the same time it is not OK type also... if you like earlier Jananathan movies like Purambokku, you may find this is OK. It has too many serial type dialogs and trying to put message in each and every scene.... If they put bit more attention to the dialogs, this would have been bit better and watchable... After Bhoomi and other corporate farming movies, this one is so repetitive and melodramatic... Strictly for Jananathan fans only.

The movie is probably ok to watch once, only to find out how a movie fails. Some of the scenes are not logical at plain sight - Jagapathy babu climbing stairs, going to first floor and then using lift to go up to another floor. But in another shot, the whole building has only 2 floors. And during climax the farmers come to reap a paddy field which had just started growing. And not to mention the most crude way they kill Vanangamudi, when a simple bullet shot could have taken care of it. And before the Clara song, a guy with Vibuthi makes a funny intro about clara. Not really sure why these movie makers have to keep insulting the Hindu/Brahmin section always. In all, just another masala film with half baked shots. For those who gave 4 or 5 stars for this movie, I just got to say one thing - Dont give stars just because you love farmers. This is a movie and a movie has to be taken in a right way. There are numerous movies on farmers and their roles in the society and were well taken too. This movie is a big failure.

My take on Laabam : Such a let down by director SP Jananathan & team The movie wants to deliver so much in the likes of economy, agricultural crops pricing mafia, depletion of natural resource, labor exploitation etc. But the whole idea goes for a toss when the screenplay is super lousy and marred by disaster editing. Character sketching was very weak. Summing all these negatives it becomes un bearable in so many stages and we get some amateur vibes in terms of execution. In terms of casting wasn't impressed by VJS, I have no idea why would Shruthi Hassan or Sai Dhanshika would even accept roles which have literally zero impact.

Verdict: Total disaster VJS star power couldn't save this sinking ship.

Almost 100 movies came with this same story line.

Highly disappointed.
