I rarely give a film ten stars but I honestly found nothing wrong and everything right with this movie. The story is touching and the writer handles it beautifully. The lead actresses are very believable. I don't know if they are gay in real life but if not, they convinced me that they are women who like women. Some of the supporting actors were excellent. I thought the members of the trio were wonderfully played. If they were faking it, it didn't show. The manager was annoying but it works well. Her over protection shows. I can't say enough nice things about Monica Young as Samantha and Andrea Bogart as Abigail. Their love builds in a stunning way. It's a beautiful film.
Concerto for Abigail is one of those movies that you wish would never end. It's a master class on how to fall in love. Attraction to desire to love and deep friendship. Wouldn't we all like to have this? Monica Young and Andrea Bogart are this lovely couple. Beautiful women and beautiful acting jobs. Watching them interact was like magic. Hats off to the cinematographer. It is so well shot and those last scenes are gorgeous. I loved the music. Multi-talented Monica Young wrote and sings the most touching song in the movie. She can do it all folks. OK. I would have liked more kissing and sex, but that's just me. Watch it.
I watched the film for the story and it's a tender, heart wrenching story. I watched it again for the music. This has the most beautiful score I've heard in a film in a long time. Samantha conveys so much emotion in her expressions and body language. And Abigail does the same as though the two lovers have their own language that they won't share with us. When Samantha says that they are an "us" I feel the bond they are making. The story brought a few tears as Samantha deals with a coming loss. But I believed it all. Many thanks to writer and director Jan Corran for bringing us what will surely be the number one lgbtq film of the year. Oh and it is gorgeous to watch.
As a person who began going deaf in my teens, I was curious to see how someone who isn't deaf could write about it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the writer, the director and the actor who played Samantha seemed to understand hearing loss very well. Samantha does show us what it feels like but specifically how a person feels. I could relate. Abigail is the perfect fan to come into Sam's life. Both actresses are lovely to look at and truly believable as lovers. Abigail brings hope and joy into Samanth'as world as it begins to spiral downward. This is a hopeful movie with a good story. I hardly heard he music, but turned up loudly, it was a beautiful concerto. Really enjoyed this movie.
Definitely open a bottle of your best champagne. Then curl up on the sofa or your cushy bed with someone you love. This is one film that just may make you fall in love all over again. I know I did. Monica Young and Andrea Bogart are superb actresses. I believed in them as a couple and was only sorry that there wasn't a longer movie so I could watch them interact more. I was especially moved by the lighting used in different scenes. The bedroom one was luscious. Both women couldn't have looked more beautiful. The scene in the end is amazing. The music is powerful and the look on Samantha's face is priceless. Thank you for making this beautiful movie.
