The lockdown gave me and my wife great opportunity to catch-up on "lagira" again and we realised why we loved it so much earlier when it was first telecast.
1. The serial was very well written. The character interactions were engaging, yet very realistic.
2. There was a crackling chemistry between the leads Sheetal (Shivani Baokar) and Ajinkya (Nitish Chavan).
3. The acting was splendid. Shivani as well as Nitish's expressions managed to hit the perfect golden spot of being dramatic and realistic at the same time!
Both (and all other lead actors) conveyed the internal and external mental frames exquisitely. The background score was also excellent in conveying emotional cues
4 The dialogues were crisp and never dragged the story ( for most part)
5. The locations (especially the greenery) was exhilarating. Also the serial very effortlessly brought out the dynamics of life and culture in Rural Maharashtra
6. The acting of Rahul Tate and Nikhil Chavan, Kiran Gaikwad, Kamal Thoke and the lead pairs other family members also deserve special mention as they were absolutely top class supports
7. And finally the story and serial remained true to its purpose of making us civilians aware of the heroism and sacrifice of our army men and their dear ones. This is especially starkly hit home in light of the recent developments on our border
Here we are during Covid lockdowns, some of us are, comfortably ensconced in our homes doing so called "work from home" and leading comfortable lives as investment bankers, Analysts, programmers etc mainly because of our Jawans valiantly defending our borders
So thanks to "the lagira team" for hitting that message hard without being preachy
Hence my top billing to the serial is well deserved, it has a making of a cult classic in years to come
