The Austin Film Festival has revealed its first wave of premieres to take place at the 32nd annual festival. The line-up includes a handful of films that will have their world premieres or Texas premieres in the festival’s competition. Meanwhile, the festival has also announced that its Writers Conference will honor Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar during the festival with the prestigious Writer’s Writer Award.

Netflix content chief Bela Bajaria will be making a lot of pleasant phone calls today after the streamer landed 107 Emmy nominations across 35 different shows.

Dakota Fanning’s Marge Sherwood describes Tom Ripley as an untrustworthy liar who takes advantage of people in the official trailer for Netflix’s Ripley. The limited series stars All of Us Strangers‘ Andrew Scott in the titular role and is based on Patricia Highsmith’s popular Tom Ripley novels.

“Tom Ripley (Scott), a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.”

In addition to Scott and Fanning, the series stars Johnny Flynn (Lovesick) as Dickie Greenleaf, Eliot Sumner (Pretty Red Dress), Maurizio Lombardi (Monterossi), Margherita Buy (Mia Madre), and two-time Oscar nominee John Malkovich. Oscar winner Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List) wrote, directed, and executive produced the limited series.

The film is written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and her father M. Night Shyamalan is serving as producer on the project.

The Watchers follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. You can’t see them, but they see everything.

Two of the most mysterious films of the year so far are both from the Shyamalan family; yep, there’s more than one. M. Night Shyamalan has a mystery horror film called “Trap” coming out later this year in August via Warner Bros. Madame Web was finally revealed to the public Monday night after the Sony/Marvel film held its premiere in Los Angeles, and the first reactions have already hit social media.

The superhero movie stars Dakota Johnson in the title role, a woman who develops psychic abilities. The cast also includes Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, Madame Web was written by Clarkson, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Claire Parker.

Director Antoine Fuqua and star Denzel Washington are back for a third “Equalizer” film at Sony Pictures. Their action franchise, which has collectively earned 382.7 million globally, is based on the popular television series of the same name that aired from 1985 to 1989. There has been a lingering mystery surrounding Cathy Mueller, Ryan’s love interest in the first season, as well as in the books. The character was never written out of the show, she just disappeared. There was not a single reference of her throughout Season 2, and the only clue given was Ryan (John Krasinski) sleeping with another woman early on in the season, and then later on saying he’s single.
