Moving but with a muddled middle...

Nokdu Flower is an emotional, eye-opening drama based on real events that happened during the Dong-Hak Peasant Revolution. The story explores very well ideas revolving around class systems and personal change.

With beautiful music and stunning cinematography, Nokdu Flower brings history to life in an engaging heart-wrenching way.

Unfortunately, in terms of plot and character the writing falls flat. The middle is snail-pace and lacks action for a portrayal of such a turbulent time. Additionally, the romance is extremely forced, awkward and highly unessecary. It changes dramatically the tone of the story and leaves you feeling confused.

While at times this drama can feel like a chore to sit through, it is worth it for the handful of scenes that leave a deep impression.

If you have lots of patience and a good attention span it's definitely worth a watch.

    loved it!

Very good acting from all the actors and actresses. Slow but has a meaningful and exciting storyline. Sometimes things get really "fictional", which means that some things in the drama are unlikely to happen in real life. But overall a really good drama!

This is a satisfying drama with an involving plot, believable relationships and great performances, most particularly from Yeri Han, an actress I would like to see again.

    Revolting peasants

Historical drama where the poor rise up against the powerful and two brothers find themselves on opposite sides. An interesting story and well acted but the pace is too slow and my interest wanes as each episode goes nowhere very fast. If they had cut down the episodes it could have been tighter and more entertaining.

    A masterpiece!!

I rarely rate a series or a movie with 10 stars, I consider my self generous when I give 8 or 9 stars, but if I could give more than 10 stars to this one I would've.. A brilliant true event-based masterpiece, with zero mistakes, where everthing and everyone just fits!!

I never expected it to be this good as I started watching, brilliant cast, brilliant people incarnation & a masterful director, he just made his lifetime piece, and of course no need to speak of Cho Jung seok acting skills, he just never disappoints, everyone has done an amazing job, it just couldn't have been better, kudos to them all 🌸
