Dabbe it is not...it's just not enough of anything! It's not BAD, but it's not really GOOD, either! I get the whole correlation between what he's reading and what's happening, but if you aren't an intellectual, most of that could pass you by. Also, there wasn't really a definitive REASON as to why things were happening, and a final ending. I think I'll skip the sequel.
A spectacularly bad movie on every level. The characters are ridiculous, the plot (what there is of one) makes no sense, the acting is risible, the dialogue is nonsense and the direction is laughable. I can't understand how the people involved in this thought what they were doing was ok. This movie makes a mockery of film making as entertainment and how it and the equally terrible Part II ended up on a major streaming network beggars belief. Until I saw this I thought it took talent to make a movie but now I'm off to find some people who have never acted and someone who has never written a script, film it on my phone and wait for the streaming companies to come and throw money at me. Do yourself a favour and watch grass grow instead.
I am speechless. I do not know what I just saw, this is a disgrace to the Emirati culture. Why is this on Netflix ? The acting, horrendous. The music, awful. The dialogue, disgusting. There is no story. The movie, if you can even call it that is weird and a waste of time at best. One guy is always angry for no reason. The guy who attempts to flirt is creepy and is the stuff of nightmares. There is barely any horror in this "Horror" movie. I never write reviews but maybe someone will read this and stop to think. Maybe after that they won't waste their time with watching this circus show. I would like someone to gouge my eyes out and kill me to free me from the misery that is my life after watching this "movie".
Watch it if you want to waste an hour. The plot makes very little sense, the acting is abysmal and the ending is just... confusing. Complete and utter waste of time.
This was either a very weird film, or else it's the first time I've ever encountered a situation where a foreign film (to an American) just did not translate well.
This film is ostensibly about a group of friends who are going to hang out at their grandmother's farm in Abu Dhabi. One of them hits on some girls at a gas station before they head out.
Once they're at the farm, they start having occasional inexplicable "incidents" that sometimes border on psychedelic. At some point more than half-way in, the guy who was hitting on the girls starts texting them and inviting them over to the farm.
There's some light moments of comedy and lots of arguing, but for the most part there's almost no horror until very close to the end, after which suddenly things just start happening out of nowhere all seemingly related to some stuff one of the guys had been reading all throughout the film.
Unless I am missing some deeper significance that being a native of the middle east or the UAE or familiar with Islam would make more clear, all of this went way over my head and the film itself came across as very weird.
