I believe judging this movie without knowing the whole Russian history since 1917 would be very hard. Obviously people of soviet union have suffered alot through communism and 2 world wars. I have spent 14 years living in one of the Provence and still don't get the message, However this brutal culture is very familiar to me. Over there Life is not a celebration at all.

I don't know what to think of this film. It was so filthy, pointless, cheaply done, and boring. Yet the acting was powerful and it still hit me hard at some scenes. It's a weird one for sure.

This is one of the best movies of our time. Great story, dialog, symbolism. Amazing story about comradeship and brotherhood.

Best drama for family viewing, which will make everyone cry.

I strongly advise you to watch this excellent piece of real cinema art!
