Most of the biggest anime hits in recent years have multiple seasons under their belt. There's no way those anime could tackle the entire story they're adapting in just one season. A-1 Pictures’ Solo Levelingand Studio Olm’s The Apothecary Diaries are just a couple of examples of how some anime are just well worth giving a second season.
While countless anime need and deserve additional installments to feel complete, there are just as many series that could satisfy audiences with only one. Excluding some of the more recent phenomenal anime that have already been greenlit for another installment, the past few decades have come out with many single-season gems that fans will want (and can) binge-watch on one night.

The concept of vampires is an age-old storytelling element that might as well be its own genre if not for the many different types of tales that anime has told with the mythical creature in mind. From the gory, teetering-on-bloodlust destruction of Alucard in Hellsing Ultimate to the more lighthearted drama of Chibi Vampire, anime has many renditions of the supernatural, literally bloodthirsty creature of the night.
Vampire anime has steadily amassed its audience since Vampire Hunter D, anime's first entry in a long line of series featuring the blood-sucking creature, and has only skyrocketed in popularity thanks to series like Vampire Knight (which features a more attractive take on vampires). It's an undying niche, with new series such as Delico's Nursery and Mayonaka Punch adding to its numbers. And with so many shows under its umbrella, it's difficult to determine the best of the best.

Vampires may be powerful and dangerous, but some of them are so charming, intelligent, and gorgeous that fans can't help but swoon over them. Beauty aside, some have wonderful qualities which make them desirable waifus, like bravery and the capacity for undying love. Vampires in general are highly romantic figures in literature, movies, and anime – crushing on them isn't anything new.
The danger of vampires is part of their romantic appeal for many otaku. It's understandable that characters like Carmilla from Castlevania have a vampy appeal that sends fans' hearts beating. Villainous, bloodthirsty vampires may not be great partners in real life, but in anime world, the rules are a bit different.

A paranormal romance normally revolves around the love affair between a human and a magical being or supernatural entity. Sometimes both lovers are supernatural beings, but one is newly initiated into that world. The creatures vary from shifters to vampires to werewolves to ghosts, and beyond. Themes of immortality, lost love, and violence tend to permeate these stories.
Gothic romance novels popularized the concept of paranormal romances. In gothic romances, the paranormal entities tended to be steeped in metaphor while the more modern romances are explicitly paranormal. The genre was widely popularized in novels and plays, but several amazing anime series take the concept and run with it.

Netflix used to have a massive library of anime available for fans to watch, but like most streaming services, the company has seriously downsized its offerings in the last few years. These days, Netflix tends to focus largely on its own original series and movies to draw viewers in. That said, Netflix subscribers can still get more than their fill of great fantasy anime on the service.

Some entries in Netflix's anime catalog take viewers to faraway worlds, allowing them to experience daring tales of adventure, and hopefully see the heroes defeat the villains. Others are light, slice-of-life fantasy series for audiences to unwind with after a long day's work. It's a good mix and makes Netflix more than worthwhile for longtime anime fans and new fans who are exploring the medium.

As the buzz around Oshi no Ko's fame and success begins to taper off, some may wonder how it made anime history in the first place. The series' huge launch is certainly thanks to its unique premiere episode, which took on the vibe and duration of a feature film. Viewers already had their own expectations of what was coming, but they were subverted thanks to the honed skill of editing and pace.
As the trailers and synopses promised, Oshi no Ko follows the supernatural story about an ob-gyn doctor who is reincarnated as his favorite idol's child. With more nuance, meaning and heart than initially expected, the premiere showcases only the most important details. This decision to use a faster pace is part of a recent trend in anime that has grown increasingly popular and well-received over time. "Beauty and the Beast" truly is a tale as old as time, and has been retold in countless ways, like the Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton TV series of the same name, the Fran Drescher comedy "The Beautician and the Beast," the teen rom-drama "Beastly," or even in an episode of "Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater." Recently, legendary Japanese filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda delivered "Belle," a magnificent animated sci-fi fantasy film that thrusts the tale out of the world of old and into the techno future.
The story takes place in the not-so-distant future where the internet has evolved into a legitimate virtual reality called U, where avatars are created by users' scanned biometric information. A teenager named Suzu creates an avatar named Belle who becomes a pop superstar, but everything changes when her virtual concert is interrupted by the seemingly undefeatable fighter The Dragon (or "The Beast"), who she quickly becomes infatuated with.

Photo: 'Vampire in the Garden' There’s a new vampire romance story in town, and boy oh boy when I tell you that spending a dark and gloomy evening diving myself into this story was certainly something if not intriguing in a variety of ways. ‘Vampire in the Garden’ is Netflix’s newest addition to the anime genre, and a recent take on the classic and dearly-beloved trope of “human falls head-over-heels for the forbidden vampire” trope—as we beautifully well know was made popular with Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight’ series. Netflix is no stranger to forming unique storylines in its variety of original anime series’; especially when it comes to tragedy and romance. With shows ranging from the anime adaptation of the horrifying hit video game ‘Castlevania’ to the simple silliness of ‘The Way of the Househusband’, Netflix has featured a rather impeccable range of original anime...

This Vampire in the Garden review contains no spoilers.
Fair warning: there’s a lot more gore than gardening in Netflix’s newest anime, Vampire in the Garden. It’s a fantastic story about Momo and Fine, a human/vampire duo escaping the brutal war between their species. Set in the remnants of an unnamed but unmistakably post-Soviet country, their journey is as much about the horrors of war as it is about the beauty of music. And with the creative minds of Studio Wit at the helm, the animation is appropriately top-notch and the story delivers a heartfelt anti-war message in its brief five-episode season.
Momo is a low-ranking soldier in humanity’s last army, but she is unwilling and unable to kill her enemies in combat. Meanwhile, Fine is the queen of the vampires, but refuses to drink blood. The vampires live opulently in aristocratic splendor, while the...

After almost three absurdly long years, “Stranger Things” Season 4 is just around the corner. A tentpole series for Netflix — at a whopping production cost of reportedly 30 million per episode — the fan-favorite sci-fi show that launched its young adult cast, led by Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, into superstardom will be dropping new episodes May 27.
And, according to the Emmy-winning series’ executive producer Shawn Levy, it’s going to be “harrowing,” “cinematic” and “epic.” He told TheWrap in a recent interview, “This is so much more story and runtime than ever before, not by a little. By a lot.”
The last month of spring will also see the return of reality series titles like “The Circle” — a social media-driven competition series where players catfish, befriend and flirt with each other with the aim of winning a grand cash prize — and “Bling Empire” — which centers on a group of uber-wealthy Asian American friends in Beverly Hills.

As the undisputed king of streaming (for now at least), Netflix has enjoyed the presence of some major blockbusters. Now, with its list of new releases for May 2022, Netflix is bringing back one of its biggest ever hits.
Stranger Things season 4 “volume one” is set to premiere on May 27. It’s been a long wait for new episodes of this ’80s-tinged sci-fi/horror series and based on the trailers, the wait will have been well worth it. In this go-around, the kids of Hawkins (now high schoolers) will have to contend with the Upside Down once again to go along with the horrors of the Creel House.
While Stranger Things is the biggest Netflix original this month, it’s far from the only one. Mike Myers’ latest series The Pentaverate premieres on May 5 (fittingly: 5/5). Meanwhile The Lincoln Lawyer is set to arrive on May 13 followed by Love, Death & Robots Volume...
