Rammstein's bold take on Germany's past and future

Rammstein's Deutschland is an exceptional music video. The filmography is top-tier, the music is outstanding, and the story it tells is both shocking and raw, yet deeply genuine.

As a German band, Rammstein has undoubtedly felt the heavy burden of certain dark chapters in their country's history. This video includes clear nods to those events, understandably making some viewers uncomfortable. But that's Rammstein's way: what happened cannot be undone, and ignoring it doesn't help. You can't erase history.

At the same time, the video also explores Germany's future in a way that is nothing short of intriguing. Given its powerful imagery and themes, it's no surprise that Deutschland has become a frequent subject of reaction videos across social media.

One of the best

Apart from the musical quality, as visual aspects this is one of the best music videos I've ever seen.

Going through all of those dark times of Germania with no censorship concerns, acting quality of musicians, acting of Ruby Commey, art style, messages within...

Everythings in an order despite jumping through all those timelines and eventually intercepting together, of course intentionally.

In many western countries, this could be quite a PR disaster for any other band. But Rammstein take their absurd but strong storytelling aspects into the music video and with help of countless other people they created this piece of art.

At the very beginning of the clip, Roman soldiers meet a black woman barbarian. She is the personification of Germany at the time (and throughout the entire clip). It was with the Germanic tribes that the Roman Empire fought long and hard, and it was the ancient Germanic tribe of the Vandals who finally ravaged Rome.
