Official Trailer for 'Followers' Found Footage Influencer Ghost Horror
Image
"I'm gonna prove that there's a ghost here – a real one." Terror Films has released a new US trailer for an indie horror comedy titled Followers, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Marcus Harben. After premiering at FrightFest in 2021, it's finally getting a VOD release in the US this spring. From the producers of Anna and the Apocalypse and Monsters, and in the tradition of Get Out and ‘"Black Mirror’", Terror Films' Followers combines horror with black comedy to satirize today's influencer generation while bringing a fresh new spin to the found-footage horror genre. What starts as hilariously bad YouTube videos develops into a warning to the world about a shocking new strain of supernatural serial killer. To create an authentic found footage feel, over 70% of Followers was filmed by the actors themselves. This stars Harry Jarvis (seen in Netflix's Knight Before Christmas), Loreece Harrison, Erin Austen, Daniel Cahill,...

Followers Trailer Drops From Producers Of Anna And The Apocalypse [Exclusive]
Image
Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive first look at the trailer for Followers, which premieres through digital platforms on March 24. Produced by much of the team behind 2017's underdog hit Anna and the Apocalypse, the new film follows in the footsteps of socially-conscious horror projects like Get Out and Black Mirror. After a silly prank aimed at YouTube fame spirals out of control, an influencer and his roommates must warn the world about a supernatural serial killer.

Followers, which is the last film directed by the late Marcus Harben, combines the tropes of the found-footage horror story popularized by The Blair Witch Project and injects the hip comedic tone of a teen drama. It comes as no surprise that many of the minds behind Anna and the Apocalypse worked on Followers, for the humorous beats land perfectly based on the trailer.

Hannah Brown apologizes for saying N-word as Bachelor Nation calls her out
Image
Hannah Brown has apologized for using the N-word during an Instagram Live Saturday night as she continues to face backlash from fans and Bachelor Nation alums alike.

“I owe you all a major apology,” Brown wrote in Instagram Story on Sunday, about 12 hours after the incident. “There is no excuse and I will not justify what I said. I have read your messages and seen the hurt I have caused. I own it all. I am terribly sorry and know that whether in public or private, this language is unacceptable. I promise to do better.”

During an Instagram Live on Saturday evening, the former “Bachelorette” star was trying to learn the TikTok dance to DaBaby‘s “Rockstar.” She sang along with the song out loud, including the N-word, before stopping altogether. Brown didn’t address her use of the slur until minutes later when reading the comments on her Live,...

Netflix subscribers are in for a horrifying surprise. The long-running “Ju-On” franchise, also known as “The Grudge,” is getting adapted into a television series that will hit the streaming service on July 3.

Here’s the upcoming Japanese-language series’ synopsis, per Netflix: The J-horror classic franchise “Ju-On” was actually based on real events that occurred over four decades — and the truth is even more terrifying. Can the people haunted by this house escape from its curse? And what kind of grim incident occurred in this cursed house in the past?

The series stars Yoshiyoshi Arakawa, Yuina Kuroshima, and Ririka. Most other details, such as episode directors, executive producers, and episode numbers, are unknown. IndieWire reached out to a Netflix representative for further details about the series.

The “Ju-On” franchise was created by Takashi Shimizu via two short films in 1998. The “Ju-On: The Curse” feature film was released two years later and...

Kevin Bacon, Steve Guttenberg, Mickey Rourke, Paul Reiser, Tim Daly, and Daniel Stern in Diner (1982)
Series Review: Followers (2020) by Mika Ninagawa
Kevin Bacon, Steve Guttenberg, Mickey Rourke, Paul Reiser, Tim Daly, and Daniel Stern in Diner (1982)
I have not seen the two films Ninagawa directed in 2019 but her first two, “Sakuran” and “Helter Skelter” are among my favorite Japanese films of all time, both due to their concept and their intense visual style. Thus, I was quite curious to see how her style would be implemented in a TV series and Netflix’s “Followers” provided the opportunity.

The story revolves around four women. Limi Nara is a very successful photographer, who now feels the need to become a mother, despite the fact that she is single. Natsume Hyakuta has come to Tokyo in order to become an actress, but has not managed to do so at all, and she just does whatever job comes her way waiting for her big break. However, her life changes when she meets Hiraku, a YouTuber who used to be in the movie industry when he was younger, and when Limi...
