Strange to see that there isn't a review for this so called roughie. it's available on the official release of Wet Wilderness. Two years older then Wet Wilderness and better acting, not to say that it is good but it's better. The problem is that when the Phantom of the Opera attacks he just kill with his bare hands. So there is no blood in this supposed roughie. But it is watchable because there is a storyline in it. And the fun part is the open ending. Let's say it's a good attempt to make a roughie. The scene when the Phantom kills are explicit but I guess that the close ups were done by some other actors because when we see a shot of the raping you can see the Phantoms dingelong hanging! What a mistake. The editing is okay but the quality of the movie is sometimes bad and funny to see that two girls living apart having the same interior, another mistake or a fact that this is surely shot in one or maybe two days. And you will have a big laugh with the cop, he's great even when he perform his dude with the girls. It's fun but if you would like to see a real roughie watch Forced Entry instead.
Come Deadly (1974)
* 1/2 (out of 4)
An acting group has its females coming under attack by a maniac dressed in black and wearing a strange hat. A detective must go undercover to try and track down the serial rapist.
COME DEADLY is a pretty darn bad movie. I mean it's a really, really bad one that doesn't seem to know what it's trying to do. It's a mix between a porno and a horror movie and I'm going to guess that director Gil Kenston was a fan of the giallo movies from this era because the killer really does strike me as someone that should have been in a Mario Bava movie. With that said, there's certainly nothing effective about the killer here and the rape scenes are all rather bad. Strike up the bad cinematography and the even worse acting and nothing here is all that believable.
Another major problem is that the person playing the killer changes a few times throughout the movie. You can tell this by the changing shape of the body (and other things). There are some unintentional laughs to be had and especially how easy it is to know who the killer is. When the killer finally announces why he did what he did.... Umm, wow.
