Hopefully the force is with Katherine Timpf — because a lot of people appear to have it out for her. Fox News contributor Timpf claims that she has received death threats after making fun of “Star Wars” fans on Fox’s late-night offering “Red Eye.” In an essay for the National Review, Timpf says she cracked wise about “Star Wars” fans, joking, “I have never had any interest in watching space nerds poke each other with their little space nerd sticks, and I’m not going to start now,” as well as,”Yesterday I tweeted something, and all I said was that I wasn’t familiar.

Sci-fi fandom's tradition of being chill and welcoming to women continued this week when Fox News contributor Katherine Timpf began receiving death threats for making fun of Star Wars fans. Timpf was appearing on the network's satirical early-morning chat show Red Eye last month when she started talking about previous harassment she'd received at the hands of Star Wars diehards. "I have never had any interest in watching space nerds poke each other with their little space-nerd sticks, and I’m not going to start now," she joked. "You people are crazy ... Yesterday I tweeted something, and all I said was that I wasn’t familiar with Star Wars because I’ve been too busy liking cool things and being attractive — people threatened my life." In response to this mild trolling, a few Star Wars fans reacted by escalating their abuse, sending Timpf detailed death threats and making YouTube manifestos against her.

Fitness model Greg Plitt killed in train accident: Plitt was the 'body' of Dr. Manhattan in 'Watchmen' movie Fitness model Greg Plitt, best known for adorning countless fitness magazine covers and for his participation on the reality TV show Work Out, was killed by a passenger train while being videotaped last Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2015, in Burbank, about 20 kilometers northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Authorities are now trying to figure out how Plitt and his two-person crew were able to access a restricted area – without a filming permit – and what exactly they were doing there. Online tabloids claim to have the answer, asserting that Greg Plitt's death was the result of a failed thrill-seeking stunt. The athletic Plitt, who had previously shot at least one workout video on a train track, was purportedly trying to outrun the passenger train, but tripped and fell on the tracks. Police have...

The fact that the film had a meager $8 million budget meant that it was a huge cash cow for the studio and rocketed Spielberg to the the forefront of a new generation of filmmakers for a new era of movie mass-consumption. The death of a major character, whether they’re a series regular or just recurring, can be exactly what a struggling show needs to inject a tone it otherwise was lacking. In Falling Skies’ case, Jimmy’s untimely demise in “Compass” serves the purpose of finally giving a good sense of the stakes in this post-alien invasion world. People have died before, been kidnapped, and seriously injured, but saying goodbye to Jimmy was a heavier weight for the show to bear. In essence, Jimmy was a symbol of the world gone wrong. Here we have a boy who only a year ago was as innocent as any child should be at his age. But because of the invasion, he had to grow up fast, learn to be a soldier, and fight for his freedom alongside his fellow resistance members. He was brave, well liked, an important member of the 2nd Mass.

In its second week on the air, Fox News Channel‘s Fox And Friends First, the new 5 Am hour of the Fox And Friends morning show, averaged 146,000 viewers in the key TV news demographic of adults 25-54 from 3/11-3/16. Given Fox News’ across-the-board ratings strength, it is not surprising that Fox And Friends First beat its news network competition in the hour. But somewhat surprisingly, the 5 Am show also topped most of CNN‘s evening programs last week, including John King USA (117,000) at 6 Pm, Erin Burnett Outfront (126,000) at 7 Pm and Piers Morgan Tonight (133,000) at 10 Pm. On Friday morning's Red Eye, Greg Gutfeld paid tribute to Andrew Breitbart by playing a clip from the very first episode of the show, which first aired February 6, 2007. "What I want to say is about you," Breitbart told Gutfeld. "You said that you won't have a lot of viewers. but you represent a lot of viewers like myself who have no discernable expertise on anything and I think that people will relate to you on that!"...

Appearing on Fox News's Red Eye Friday morning, Andrew Breitbart chided the Republican presidential candidates, calling them hypocritical for refusing to attend Donald Trump's Newmax debate, but continuously appearing on MSNBC. "What's so frustrating is the people who are saying no to Donald Trump are the people who say (yes) every single week to the MSNBC's of the world and are willing to sit there as Chris Matthews berates them, sets them up, and now they can't stand Donald Trump when he is probably one of the only successful capitalists out there haling the economy which is a capitalist economy. These people are taking the wrong stand at the wrong time. If these guys have any integrity they say no to MSNBC -- but they go after the only capitalist out there."...

As epitomized best by the unfortunate Espn "chink in the armor" incident last week, America's obsession with Jeremy Lin has brought out some of the lesser informed aspects of the relationship between the mainstream media and Asian Americans, and to help, the Asian American Journalists' Association release a guideline for how to appropriately refer to Asian newsmakers without being racist. Does one have the constitutional right to watch porn in public? The Aclu has signed up to defend the rights of citizens from a public library that has banned pornographic URLs from their computers and, naturally, this ended up one of the main topics of discussion on Red Eye. Andrew W.K. has stood the music industry’s test of time without compromising the 2001 qualities he trended before Twitter was even the fad. The media phenomenon didn’t need the help of a hash tag to attract worldwide attention; all he needed was his positively untamed personality meshed with punk-pop melodies. The iconic Andrew W.K. elements created his debut album, “I Get Wet”, which dropped November 19th 2001 via Island Def Jam Music Group and produced the hits, “Party Hard” and “She Is Beautiful”. The head-to-toe donned in white rocker hosts the Cartoon Network show, “Destroy, Build, Destroy” and is a frequent guest on the Fox News late-night program, “Red Eye...

It wasn't a performance that would get him to Hollywood. Steven Tyler took some heat Sunday after singing an off-kilter, screechy version of The Star-Spangled Banner before an NFL playoff game between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens in Foxborough, Mass. The crowd at the game began heckling the American Idol judge, 63, as he worked his way through the national anthem, missing notes and flubbing lyrics. He sang "as bomb bursting in air" instead of "the bombs bursting in air" and "oh the land of the free" instead of "o'er the land of the free."Espn analyst Skip Bayless...
