Ironheart has landed on Disney+, bringing a new chapter to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike recent shows that stretched into nine episodes, this one sticks to the earlier Marvel TV approach, making it feel like a bridge between the franchise’s past and future.

Ironheart feels more compact and focused with Agatha All Along and Daredevil: Born Again switching up the format. It’s also one of the last few titles from the older Marvel Television playbook before the studio fully embraced its newer structure.

Jeremy Renner continues to keep fans updated on his recovery, seven months after his near-death snowplow accident.

On Sunday, the “Hawkeye” star shared a selfie on his Instagram Story of the oxygen treatment he undergoes twice a day.

In the pic, Renner, 52, is seen receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy (Hbot), which can be used to treat multiple medical conditions, including crush injuries like Renner’s.

“Hyperbaric chamber, 2 atmosphere pressure, high oxygen, 2x daily,” the actor — who’s used a cane publicly since the accident — captioned the pic.

Neon’s latest, The Lodge scared up some solid numbers in its first weekend out, debuting on six screens in New York and Los Angeles, earning an estimated $78,104 with an impressive $13,017 per-screen average. The Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz’s isolated-in-a-snowed-in-cabin thriller starring Riley Keough, Richard Armitage, Jaeden Martell, and Lia McHugh is currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 75% before it expands.

The film opened in New York at the Angelika, Nitehawk in Williamsburg, and the Drafthouse Brooklyn. It will also play in Los Angeles this weekend at AMC Century City, Drafthouse, Universal Citywalk, and AMC Burbank. We are hearing that it pulled in noteworthy numbers at Brooklyn’s Alamo Drafthouse, which was bolstered by early access screenings. The 2020 Independent Spirit Awards nominations were announced Thursday, November 21. So who made the cut at these kudos, which celebrate the best in American independent films? Scroll down to see the full list of nominees for the 2020 Indie Spirits. Remember, only American-made movies with budgets under $20 million were eligible for consideration.

These Spirit contenders were decided by nominating committees that included film critics, film programmers, producers, directors, writers, cinematographers, editors, actors, past nominees and winners, and members of Film Independent’s Board of Directors.

Winners will be chosen by all of Film Independent’s eligible members, including industry insiders and any movie fans who sign up for membership starting at $95 per year.

These awards have come to be a significant preview of the Oscars as the motion picture academy embraces more independent films. Five of the last six Spirit champs for Best Feature went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

The nominations for the 35th Independent Spirit Awards have been announced, and it was a big morning for “The Lighthouse” and “Uncut Gems.” The annual indie awards ceremony is presented by Film Independent and takes place the day before the Academy Awards on the beach in Santa Monica, California. The Spirit Awards have become known over the last decade for showcasing nominees that are a mix of underdog films and higher-profile awards contenders.

It’s important to note the Indie Spirit Awards has a budget ceiling of $22.5 million, meaning any movie made for more than this amount is ineligible for nominations. On the heels of Queen of the South‘s recent Season 3 finale, the crime drama has been renewed for a fourth season to premiere in 2019. The pickup of the series, from Fox 21 TV Studios and Universal Cable Prods., comes with a change at the helm as Natalie Chaidez, who served as executive producer/showrunner for the past two seasons, is stepping down. She is succeeded by co-executive producer Dailyn Rodriguez, who is being elevated by executive producer/co-showrunner along with the series’ supervising producer Ben Lobato. The two new co-showrunners will executive produce alongside David T. Friendly.

Veteran character actor Julio Oscar Mechoso died of a heart attack on Saturday, according to the Miami Herald. He was 62. With more than 120 acting credits to his name, Mechoso’s long career spanned both movies and television, as well as comedy and drama. He appeared in films such as “Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Legend of Zorro,” “Jurassic Park III,” “Last Weekend” and TV series “From Dusk Till Dawn,” “Seinfeld,” “Greetings From Tuscan,” “Cane” and “Damon.” Mechoso’s longtime friend and colleague Andy Garcia reflected on the life and legacy of his “soul mate” in a tribute published in the Miami Herald on Sunday.

I grew up with telenovelas. I lived in Mexico during my formative years, and telenovelas were appointment viewing, with my friends and I faithfully gathering after school to watch the latest episodes. They had wonderful and outlandish names and dealt with cheating spouses, long-lost siblings, lucrative business deals, and a whole lot of evening gowns worn inside the house. Through those telenovelas, we saw that we could be anything we wanted to be when we grew up: rancheras who had to keep our land away from dastardly uncles; evil stepmothers with heavy, gaudy earrings; romantic heroes with two, three, even four different love interests; nuns and time travelers and high school women. We were inspired, and our imaginations ran wild with possibilities for our future lives. Telenovelas, in all their hyper-stylized dramatic storytelling, taught me that, as a young Latina, I could be anything I wanted.

Fox and DC Comics have brought on Lina Esco to star in their Lucifer pilot, just one week after they cast actor Tom Ellis as the title character. Lina Esco is playing Mazikeen, a fierce demon who takes the form of a beautiful young woman. In the comics, Mazikeen serves as Lucifer's best friend, bodyguard and occasional lover. In the pilot, the character will be known as Maze.

The plot follows Lucifer, who, after growing bored of ruling over hell, decides to abandon his post and head to Los Angeles, where he finds amusement in helping the L.A.P.D. punish criminals. The earlier version of the pilot script also had Lucifer coming to L.A., but instead of punishing criminals, he opens a piano bar dubbed Lux. This piano bar aspect of the story has since been abandoned. The character first originated in Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics,...

It seems ol' Scratch will have some company when he relocates to a slightly cooler climate. Deadline report that Cane actress Lina Esco has been cast alongside Tom Ellis in Fox's Lucifer, playing a character named Maze (almost certainly Mazikeen from the comics), who is described as "Lucifer’s best friend... a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman." Esco has appeared in CSI and the Heroes webseries Heroes: Destiny, as well as co-writing, directing and starring in the independent film, Free The Nipple. Clemenger Bbdo Melbourne was named agency of the year at the Melbourne Advertising & Design Club Awards tonight.

The agency won top honours for the second year running. However, rival Gpy&R Melbourne – which won more lions at Cannes this year than any Australian agency – did not enter for the second consecutive year. Last year, Patts Ecd Ben Coulson cited cost reasons for not supporting the event, which is Melbourne’s top awards show.
