The living dead launching out of their graves, zombie frogs getting revenge on the science teacher, and one epic cover of Pat Benatar's "Shadows of the Night"—these are only a few of the countless elements I love about Dance of the Dead, a midnight movie masterpiece that pits a diverse group of high schoolers and their surly gym teacher against a horde of the living dead at the prom. Directed by Gregg Bishop and written by Joe Ballarini, Dance of the Dead celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018, and while speaking with him about his new book earlier this year, I had the great pleasure of also talking with Ballarini about writing Dance of the Dead and how the cult zombie movie changed from its initial conception to its final version on the big screen.

SyFy has released a new trailer for their upcoming TV series adaptation of 12 Monkeys. The story follows a time traveler (Aaron Stanford of X2 fame) from a post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day with a mission to destroy the source of a deadly plague that will one day annihilate the human race. While the show will lack the distinct style of Terry Gilliam's 1995 film, it still looks like an interesting time-travel film, and certainly more in the serious mold of SyFy's better series. Wondering just where the hell Stephen Sommers' adaptation of the Dean R. Koontz book Odd Thomas has been? Honestly, we all but forgot about it, but THR just gave us a grim reminder of reality.

The producers of Odd Thomas are suing several entities, alleging that they failed to provide [a shocking] $35 million that would have gone toward marketing and distributing the movie and paying back production loans. Two Out of Ten Prods., known at Toot, and Fusion Films filed their lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, naming as defendants Outsource Media Group Fund, Abs Investment Group, individuals Craig Chang and Mark Bishop, and Outsource Media Group. The latter, referred to as Omg in the lawsuit, is run by principals Bradley Holmes, Dan Reardon, and Harrison Kordestani, an executive producer of lower-budget horrors and thrillers such as The Coffin, Already Dead, In a Dark Place and Intervention.

What makes a great title sequence? There are numerous shows with fantastic theme songs (Red Dwarf), evolving sequences (Fringe), handy introductions to the show (Once Upon A Time) or humour (Futurama). But for a truly great title sequence, all these things have to come together with an added splash of sheer invention and creativity, resulting in a sequence that perfectly expresses the spirit of the show (preferably without inducing headaches or nausea – Homeland has a brilliantly inventive title sequence that, unfortunately, can be physically uncomfortable to watch). Any sequence that simply shows clips of the actors in character, no matter how well acted or artistically put together, will not make the cut here.

Director Patrick Lussier talks Drive Angry, his approach to 3D, the awesome William Fichtner, Hellraiser, Halloween III, and much more.

They say that everyone has to start somewhere, and, like several directors before him, Patrick Lussier started out as a film editor. After cutting movies such as Scream, Scream 2, and Red Eye, Patrick Lussier made the transition to directing with Dracula 2000 and White Noise 2: The Light. He collaborated with actor-screenwriter Todd Farmer on the successful 3D horror remake My Bloody Valentine 3D, which lead to the writer and director's latest collaboration, the fantastic 3D action-thriller Drive Angry, which arrives on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 31.

I recently had the chance to speak with director Patrick Lussier about this 3D adventure, and here's what he had to say.

You worked with Todd Farmer on My Bloody Valentine 3D. I was curious if you came up for...

Out doing "Drive Angry 3D" promotion, filmmakers Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer confirmed they're in the midst of scripting the "Hellraiser" remake for Dimension Films, but are hesitant to call it a remake.

"We're keeping it within the world of the box. What the box is and what the box does... To go in and tell the story of Frank and the family wouldn't be right. What we went in to pitch with at Dimension was to come at it from a different angle, but go into the same world and see things you haven't been able to see in the other movies. There have been so many films, how can we make this one different?" Lussier told Styd.

With his latest feature film, Drive Angry 3D, set to bow on Friday, director Patrick Lussier has become arguably the king of the modern day B-movie thriller/horror film.

Following the blast of a horror film that was My Bloody Valentine 3D, Lussier has garnered quite a good amount of buzz, buzz that has apparently given him two brand new films. Today I'm going to hit rewind and take you readers back to the mid 90's with a glimpse at the legendary Bushwick Bill album Phantom Of The Rapra. Phantom - which marked Bushwick's second solo venture - is packed with dark melodies and enough animosity to spark a riot. But the goodness doesn't end there. Bushwick taps into his Chuckie persona more than once, delivering grim lyricism in the form of some of the albums best tracks.

After a brief intro, Bill launches into 'What Cha Gonna Do', which combines an open admission of suicidal tendencies, a willingness to murder and oddly enough, a little social commentary as well. 'Who's The Biggest' allows Bill the chance to remind us that "throats get cut, chests get wet" and 'The Bushwicken' sees the Little Big Man arrive "Straight outta nightmares.". After only two episodes on the air, The CW's "The Beautiful Life: Tbl," has been cancelled. The show was produced by Ashton Kutcher and starred Mischa Barton, but clearly neither of those big names were distracting enough to fool the nation's teeny-boppers into thinking they weren't watching complete crap."The Beautiful Life" focused on the New York modeling scene, and was very loosely based on Kutcher's own days as a model. The show also starred Corbin Bleu and Elle McPherson. It only raked in 1.4 million viewers for its premiere episode, and only a million by week two. The landscape of American Television is sprinkled here and there with dramas, comedies, and the mind-destroying reality TV shows. You probably have your reality favorites. I personally enjoy Top Chef from time to time, but I also realize that shows like that are ruining the industry. The networks do backflips for reality shows because they take out a huge amount of cost: no actors, no sets, no writers. It's just a camera and twelve drunken hos trying to bang a millionaire. And while degradation is hilarious – you need to realize that the days of your beloved scripted TV series may be coming to an end because of it.

NBC is already removing five hours of Primetime TV spots a week when Jay Leno moves to an earlier timeslot. But how many of your other shows have already gotten the axe or are close to seeing the blade come crashing down?...
