A Rare Woman

Helen Gilmore is the local sheriff. She is also fire chief and a justice of the peace. In one of these capacities she is called out of town. She appoints Bobby Burns her substitute. He's very anxious to make good, but when a couple wants to get married, a fire breaks out, and bad old Walter Stull is causing a ruckus at the local saloon, he finds himself in over his head.

Those of you who have read some of my other reviews about the Pokes & Jabbs cartoons that Stull and Burns starred in recognize that I don't think they're much good. However, for once they don't go way over the top in their antics, because when you're sheriff, JP and Fire Chief, these are all emergencies that can occur. So this one is pretty watchable, and by the standards of the team, excellent.

If you want a team that is always bad, you can watch Ham & Bud comedies....
